Job Description

Position Purpose:

Albertsons Companies' Supply Chain team is hiring a Senior Engineer Software - Front End for the GCC Bangalore team. This individual contributor role will be hands-on and will partner with engineering, design, product, architecture, business stakeholders, and distributed technology teams to deliver web and mobile capabilities for Order Management, Wholesale, and Transportation business functions.
The ideal candidate is a front-end leaning full-stack engineer who can build production-quality React/TypeScript user experiences, contribute to Java/Spring Boot APIs and integrations, and use AI-assisted development tools responsibly to improve engineering productivity without compromising security, quality, or maintainability.
Why This Role Matters:

  • Modernize user experiences for supply chain applications such as order visibility, wholesale workflows, transportation execution, and mobile-enabled operations.
  • Reduce dependency on highly specialized legacy resources by standardizing modern web, API, mobile, and integration patterns.
  • Partner with U.S. and India teams to build scalable, observable, maintainable solutions that can support high-volume supply chain operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Front-end engineering:Design, develop, test, and maintain responsive web applications using React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, CSS/SCSS, and modern component-driven UI patterns.
  • Mobile enablement:Build or support mobile-friendly workflows and, where needed, contribute to React Native, Flutter, or native Android/iOS implementations.
  • Full-stack collaboration:Partner with backend engineers to integrate UI capabilities with REST APIs, Java/Spring Boot services, Kafka/event-driven workflows, and enterprise data sources.
  • Domain delivery:Translate Supply Chain Order Management, Wholesale, and Transportation requirements into intuitive user journeys, reusable components, and reliable production features.
  • Quality ownership:Own unit, integration, end-to-end, accessibility, regression, and mobile testing expectations using tools such as Jest, React Testing Library, Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, Appium, or equivalent.
  • Performance and reliability:Tune front-end performance, address browser/mobile compatibility issues, contribute to observability, and troubleshoot production issues across UI, API, and integration layers.
  • Engineering standards:Write clean, maintainable code; participate in code reviews; contribute to design reviews; and model secure development, CI/CD, and DevOps practices.
  • AI-assisted development:Use GitHub Copilot or similar tools for productivity, test scaffolding, refactoring, and documentation while validating generated code for correctness, security, and maintainability.
  • Team collaboration:Work effectively with peer engineers, architects, product owners, QA, SRE/DevOps, and business stakeholders across geographies.
  • Mentoring:Guide less experienced engineers on coding standards, quality practices, debugging, and front-end architecture patterns.

Required Qualifications:

  • 9-12 years of software engineering experience with strong hands-on web application development.
  • Strong experience with ReactJS or AngularJS; React with TypeScript is highly preferred for this front-end role.
  • Strong knowledge of JavaScript, TypeScript, HTML5, CSS/SCSS, responsive design, browser fundamentals, and accessibility-aware UI development.
  • Experience building and consuming REST APIs and collaborating with Java/Spring Boot microservices teams.
  • Experience with SQL and data modeling concepts; familiarity with relational databases such as Oracle, Azure SQL Server, or PostgreSQL.
  • Practical knowledge of test automation for web applications, including unit and end-to-end testing frameworks.
  • Experience with Git, code review practices, and CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins, GitHub Actions, or similar tools.
  • Cloud exposure on Azure, GCP, or AWS, including deployment and operational support considerations.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex issues across UI, API, data, and integration touchpoints.
  • Ability to understand stakeholder expectations, clarify requirements, and escalate delivery risks early.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Qualifications:

  • Mobile application experience with React Native, Flutter, Kotlin/Android, Swift/iOS, Android Jetpack/Compose, Appium, or Espresso.
  • Exposure to Kafka, event streaming, asynchronous integration patterns, API contracts, retries, idempotency, and eventual consistency.
  • Java/Spring Boot hands-on experience sufficient to contribute to API scaffolding, debugging, integration testing, and service-level improvements.
  • NoSQL experience such as MongoDB or Cassandra, plus mobile data synchronization or offline-first design exposure.
  • Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, AKS, observability tools, performance tuning, and production support practices.
  • Supply chain, logistics, wholesale, order management, transportation, yard management, or retail technology domain experience.
  • Experience using AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot with a validation-first engineering mindset.
  • Exposure to GraphQL, design systems, micro frontends, component libraries, or modern front-end build tooling.
