Overview Software Development Engineer, Platform Engineering โ Seattle, Washington PitchBook, a Morningstar company, is looking to hire a Platform Engineer to join the Platform Engineering team. This role focuses on building and maintaining foundational infrastructure, tools, and workflows that enable seamless software development and delivery. It is ideal for an engineer who is passionate about developer enablement, automation, and cloud platforms. The Platform Engineering team supports engineering operations by delivering shared services and tooling used by product teams to deploy, manage, and scale software with reliability and efficiency. Primary Job Responsibilities Contribute to platform engineering strategies and best practices Collaborate with product, engineering, operations, SRE, and security teams to enable automation and developer enablement Improve the software development lifecycle (SDLC) while maintaining quality and security Assist development teams in managing infrastructure, including cloud-managed services, containerization, and infrastructure automation Maintain and improve CI/CD pipelines and developer tooling to enhance the developer experience (DevEx) Leverage managed services (PaaS/SaaS/IaaS), libraries, frameworks, and platforms (commercial and open source) Follow Agile and Lean principles to improve engineering efficiency and productivity Skills and Qualifications Bachelorโs degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field 2+ years in Software Development or Engineering roles within a medium or large enterprise Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, Linux, and networking fundamentals Solid understanding of DevOps, Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), and CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Terraform, GitLab CI/GitHub Actions, or similar) Foundational programming practices and common software architectures Experience with cloud-based solutions and infrastructure management (web services, databases such as PostgreSQL or MS SQL Server, caching) Good written and verbal communication skills Experience with cloud providers like GCP or AWS Benefits + Compensation Physical Health Additional medical wellness incentives STD, LTD, AD&D, and life insurance Emotional Health Paid sabbatical program after four years Paid family and paternity leave Annual educational stipend Tuition reimbursement eligibility CFA exam stipend Robust training programs on industry and soft skills Employee assistance program Generous vacation, sick, and volunteer days Social Health Matching gifts program Employee resource groups Dependent Care FSA Employee referral bonus program Quarterly team-building events Shared ownership employee stock program Monthly transportation stipend Compensation Annual base salary: $130,000-$165,000 Target annual bonus: 10% Working Conditions The role requires in-office presence; PitchBook emphasizes in-person collaboration and a strong office culture.
