We are seeking an enthusiastic and detail-oriented Entry-Level Software Developer to join our technology team in Calgary, Alberta, supporting our directional drilling operations.

In this role, you will help design, develop, and maintain software applications that support drilling performance, data analysis, and operational efficiency in a fast-paced industrial environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a recent graduate or early-career developer to gain hands‑on experience working on real‑world systems used in field operations, engineering, and data‑driven decision‑making. You will collaborate closely with engineers, operations staff, and senior developers to build reliable, scalable solutions that directly impact our drilling performance and safety.

This position will require the candidate to work on‑site at our Calgary, Alberta location. RESPONSIBILITIES Implement well – scoped features or bug fixes in existing C#/.NET applications. Work on backend services, data ingestion components, or UI features under guidance.

Write clean, readable code that follows team standards and conventions. Assist with basic SQL queries, reports, and data fixes under supervision. Participate in debugging, unit testing, and documentation.

Use version control correctly (branching, pull requests, rebasing as instructed). Participate in code reviews as a learner and address feedback promptly. EXPERIENCE/ Education Minimum bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or another 4‑year technical/engineering degree combined with relevant experience. 0–2 years of professional software development experience.

Foundational knowledge of C#, .NET, SQL, and at least one scripting or frontend language. Basic understanding of APIs, databases, and object – oriented programming. Willingness to learn real – time data systems and operational software.

Enjoys working as part of a team, collaborating with other developers and learning through code reviews, feedback, and shared problem‑solving. Strong desire to deliver quality results and learn from mistakes. Work is closely managed; tasks are limited in scope and complexity.

Has basic awareness of the application hosting model, IIS, and the release process. Participates in releases primarily as a consumer (verifying changes, learning deployment flow) under close guidance. ACT Energy Technologies is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
