Sister/Charge Nurse Closing date is 31 May 2026 Overview Join Ward 2 at Weston Park Cancer Centre. This role offers an opportunity to lead with compassion, develop as a senior nurse, influence service development, work with skilled colleagues, and deliver person‑centred cancer care. Main duties of the job Working closely with the Ward Manager, Matron and Sisters, the successful candidate will support the leadership, management and ongoing development of Ward 2, ensuring our patients consistently receive the highest standards of care.

Responsibilities include: Support and lead nursing teams within a fast‑paced specialist environment. Deliver and coordinate outstanding patient‑centred care. Support patients and families with empathy, dignity and compassion.

Care for acutely unwell patients with complex needs. Work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Contribute to quality improvement and service development.

Support and develop students, support workers and junior staff. Help shape a positive and supportive ward culture. Qualifications Registered General Nurse.

First level degree in a related subject (or working toward). Evidence of continued professional development. Completed national practice assessor training or equivalent teaching and assessing qualification for those with ENB998.

Experience Extensive post‑registration experience at Band 5. Extensive experience within an acute care setting. Relevant experience of caring for people with infections.

Evidence of delivering education and training to patients and staff. Evidence of working collaboratively within multidisciplinary teams. Evidence of leadership and management in an acute setting.

Evidence of applying research and audit in practice. Evidence of successfully managing and evaluating change.Evidence of effective resource management. Experience at Band 6.

Experience of caring for people with challenging behaviour. Further Training Additional professional course/qualification relevant to the speciality. Clinical skills in care of patients with infections.

Effective interpersonal and communication skills. IT literacy. Leadership and motivational skills.

Organisational and negotiation skills. Ability to apply healthcare governance principles. Other Factors Diplomatic, calm and objective.

Assertive, confident, yet approachable. Analytical skills to manage complex situations. Recognition of own limitations.

Flexible attitude to working.
