Senior Structural Engineer
J.Wyndham Prince
Job Description
Job Description
\n
Help establish something new. Shape what’s next.
\nNot often do you get the opportunity to be the first.
\nThe first Structural Engineer. The first person to help introduce a brand-new capability. The first to shape how something evolves.
\nAre you an experienced Structural Engineer looking for more than simply your next project? Ready to apply your expertise in a role where your ideas, experience and approach can genuinely make a difference?
\nJ. Wyndham Prince has spent more than 40 years delivering high-quality land development and civil infrastructure projects across Greater Sydney. Now they’re introducing something new: a dedicated Structural Engineering capability in-house.
You’ll be joining an established multidisciplinary consultancy with a strong pipeline of work, trusted clients and experienced professionals around you. While there isn’t an existing structural team to step into, that’s exactly what makes this opportunity different. You’ll help introduce this capability, contribute your specialist expertise and play an important part in shaping how Structural Engineering is delivered as the business continues to grow.
\nBased in our Penrith CBD office, you’ll enjoy modern facilities, parking, cafés, public transport and shopping all within walking distance.
About the role\nAs the Senior Structural Engineer, you’ll deliver structural engineering solutions across residential developments, subdivisions and infrastructure projects. This isn’t about designing high-rise buildings or major bridge structures. Instead, you’ll focus on practical engineering that gets built: retaining walls, driveways, accessways, subdivision infrastructure and drainage structures – the kind of projects that help shape growing communities.
\nYou’ll take ownership of complex structural design and analysis, ensuring every solution is practical, buildable, innovative and commercially appropriate. You’ll review structural calculations, reports and design documentation, helping establish consistency across structural engineering standards as this capability becomes part of the business. Working alongside civil engineers, planners, architects and drafters, you’ll contribute to integrated project outcomes while providing specialist structural expertise throughout the project lifecycle.
Day to day, you’ll:\n- \n
- Lead the structural design of residential developments, subdivisions and infrastructure projects. \n
- Deliver practical, innovative and commercially appropriate engineering solutions. \n
- Take responsibility for complex structural design and analysis. \n
- Review and approve structural calculations, reports and design documentation. \n
- Help establish consistent structural engineering standards across projects. \n
- Design structural elements including driveways, accessways, slabs, jointing designs, retaining walls (timber, concrete, block, sandstone and sleepers) and structural components associated with residential subdivisions. \n
- Design drainage structures including special pits, culvert slabs and headwalls. \n
- Coordinate designs with civil engineers, architects and drafting teams to deliver integrated project outcomes. \n
You know structural engineering. More importantly, you know practical structural engineering. You’ve probably spent around eight years designing solutions across residential developments, land development or infrastructure projects and you’re ready for something a little different.
You enjoy solving complex engineering problems, collaborating with other disciplines, reviewing designs, making engineering decisions and providing guidance when needed. What really interests you is the opportunity to help introduce Structural Engineering into an already successful consultancy and to shape that capability over time.
Requirements\n- \n
- A degree in Civil or Structural Engineering. \n
- Experience across residential, subdivision or infrastructure projects. \n
- Strong knowledge of Australian Standards and the NCC. \n
- CPEng (or working towards chartership). \n
