Medica Ireland is seeking an experienced CORU-registered Sonographer to join our growing ultrasound service and develop specialist expertise in obstetric and early pregnancy ultrasound.


This is a unique opportunity for a clinically strong Sonographer who wants to broaden their scope of practice, gain specialist skills in women's health and obstetric ultrasound, and build a long-term career within a progressive, quality-focused diagnostic imaging service.


The successful candidate will continue to perform general ultrasound while following a structured development programme that includes:



  • Fully funded postgraduate obstetric ultrasound training through UCD

  • Supervised clinical training with experienced Obstetric Sonographers and Midwife Sonographers

  • Structured competency development and mentorship

  • Exposure to specialist women's health, early pregnancy and obstetric ultrasound pathways

  • Opportunities to contribute to service development, education, governance and quality improvement


This role is ideal for a Sonographer who is ambitious, motivated to learn and interested in progressing towards specialist practice, advanced practice, education or future clinical leadership opportunities.

  • Women's Health Ultrasound

  • Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip (DDH)

Essential Requirements



  • CORU Registration

  • CASE-accredited postgraduate qualification in Medical Ultrasound (or equivalent)

  • Strong general ultrasound experience

  • Excellent communication and patient-care skills

  • Commitment to professional development and clinical quality


Desirable Experience



  • Early Pregnancy Ultrasound

  • Obstetric Ultrasound

  • Paediatric Ultrasound

  • DDH Ultrasound

  • Musculoskeletal Ultrasound

  • Teaching or mentoring experience

  • Audit, quality improvement or clinical governance involvement

  • Research, presentations or professional publications


Key Responsibilities



  • Perform high-quality ultrasound examinations in accordance with professional standards and Medica protocols

  • Participate in the structured Obstetric and Women's Health Development Programme

  • Undertake funded postgraduate obstetric ultrasound training

  • Work alongside specialist Sonographers to develop obstetric and early pregnancy scanning skills

  • Contribute to clinical governance, audit and quality assurance activities

  • Participate in service improvement initiatives and protocol development

  • Maintain accurate clinical documentation and records

  • Support the ongoing growth and development of Medica's ultrasound services

  • Attend relevant CPD, training and team development activities
