What you'll do
- Architect and implement pipelines and services dedicated to the generation of client statements, fee structures, interest payments, and tax documentation.
- Establish architectural standards for the domain, proposing innovative designs and ensuring uniform technical decisions across the team.
- Assume complete ownership of projects, managing them from the initial design phase through to production deployment while adhering to regulatory timelines.
- Refine data architecture to enhance the accuracy, consistency, and scalability of all client outputs.
- Elevate code quality through comprehensive reviews, robust testing frameworks, and engaging design discussions.
- Provide mentorship and guidance to fellow engineers through collaborative coding, code reviews, and constructive feedback.
- Integrate AI-driven tools into the development process while maintaining rigorous quality standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on project goals and deliverables.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues that arise during the development lifecycle.
- Participate in continuous learning and improvement initiatives to stay updated with industry trends and best practices.
- Document processes and systems to facilitate knowledge sharing and onboarding of new team members.
- Engage in regular communication with stakeholders to gather requirements and provide updates on project progress.
Requirements
- A minimum of 7 years of experience in backend software engineering, with a focus on building and managing scalable production systems.
- Demonstrated ability to maintain accountability and performance during high-pressure situations or tight deadlines.
- Strong decision-making skills in system design and architecture, including the ability to articulate and communicate trade-offs effectively.
- Extensive experience in data engineering for large-scale systems, particularly with distributed computing technologies such as Spark.
- Proficient in Postgres, with experience in designing schemas and writing queries for handling bulk data efficiently.
- Comfortable working with programming languages such as Ruby and Python, along with workflow orchestration tools like Airflow.
- A keen interest in AI-assisted development methodologies and the capability to ensure the quality of AI-generated outputs.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to identifying and addressing challenges.
Nice to have
- Previous experience in regulated financial sectors, such as fintech, banking, or brokerage environments.
- Familiarity with tax reporting processes, statement generation, or financial ledger systems.
- Prior experience interacting with government or regulatory bodies.
- Knowledge of medallion architecture, dbt, or similar structured data modeling techniques.
- Experience with cloud platforms and services that support scalable applications.
