Job Description

Matchtech are supporting a key client with the recruitment of a Senior Signaling Engineer to work on key railway projects in Toronto on a hybrid basis. As a Senior Signaling Engineer, you will act as a key technical leader within a Rail & Transit engineering team, contributing to the development of safe, reliable, and innovative rail systems. You will collaborate with senior engineers, technical specialists, project managers, and multidisciplinary teams to deliver complex signalling solutions across commuter rail, subway, light rail, and heavy rail projects.

In this senior role, you will apply your expertise to define engineering processes, develop execution plans, mentor junior team members, and lead technical delivery across multiple projects. You will be supported in expanding your leadership capabilities within a consulting environment. Your Impact Lead the development and analysis of rail signaling systems.

Review and approve signaling calculations, drawings, specifications, procurement documents, and design packages for construction and implementation. Perform detailed technical checks of signaling and circuit designs produced by internal teams and external partners. Develop compliant signaling schemes aligned with applicable standards, codes, client requirements, and operating rules.

Act as a technical authority across projects, ensuring quality, safety, and consistency of designs. Mentor and guide junior engineers and specialists to support their professional development. Engage with stakeholders to communicate technical concepts and resolve complex engineering challenges.

Plan and execute project work while managing scope, schedule, budget, and resource constraints. The Skills That Set You Apart Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline. Skilled Engineer designation or eligibility for registration, or Engineer-in-Training status.

Significant experience in rail systems engineering or related signaling disciplines (typically 10+ years). Demonstrated expertise in conventional signaling systems, including braking calculations, control tables, schematics, and phasing plans. Knowledge of advanced signaling technologies (e.g., communications-based train control) is an asset.

Strong understanding of relevant industry standards, codes, and operating rules. Proven ability to lead technical teams in a consulting or project-based environment. Project management certification is an asset. #J-18808-Ljbffr
