Senior Shopify Developer

Doo Digital is an ecommerce marketing agency working with DTC brands across North America. Most of our clients are on Shopify, and we’re hiring a Senior Shopify developer to handle the build, customisation, and ongoing management of those stores.

What you’ll work on

• Building and customising Shopify stores using paid themes from the Shopify Theme Store.
• Editing Liquid templates and theme settings to match the brand and the design files.
• Setting up and managing Shopify apps — subscriptions, reviews, upsells, email, search, and the rest of the usual stack.
• Site speed and Core Web Vitals work — GTmetrix scores, image optimisation, lazy loading, cleaning up render-blocking scripts.
• Managing builds from kickoff to launch — scope, timelines, milestones, QA.
• Leading a small dev team — assigning work, reviewing code, helping juniors get unstuck.
• Owning the technical conversation with clients on what’s feasible, what it’ll take, what the trade-offs are.
• Working with the design team so what gets built actually matches what was designed.

Who we’re looking for

• 3–5 years of Shopify experience, ideally across multiple live stores.
• Solid Liquid, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS — comfortable in the theme codebase.
• Hands-on with the Shopify App Store ecosystem — picking the right app, configuring it, knowing where its limits are.
• Site speed optimisation experience — GTmetrix, PageSpeed Insights, and the usual fixes.
• Has shipped multiple Shopify stores end-to-end — kickoff, build, launch.
• Comfortable splitting time roughly 50/50 between coding and managing the work.
• Clean version control and code review habits.
• Clear written English — you’ll be on briefs and client calls every week.

Nice to have

• Shopify Plus exposure.
• Past agency experience — comfortable juggling multiple brands and shifting priorities.
• Familiarity with common Shopify apps — Klaviyo, Recharge, Judge.me, Yotpo, Loox.
• Basic on-page SEO awareness — meta, schema, structured data, redirects.
• Past work with DTC supplements, beauty, or similar ecommerce categories.
