Girton Grammar School is seeking an outstanding Senior School Teacher – English to join our dedicated and high‑performing English Department. This ongoing position may be offered on a full‑time or part‑time basis and presents an exciting opportunity for an experienced and passionate educator to contribute to a school renowned for its strong academic outcomes, supportive culture and commitment to evidence‑informed teaching practices.
About the Role
The successful applicant will teach English across Years 7–10 and VCE, delivering engaging and rigorous learning experiences that develop students’ reading, writing, critical thinking and analytical skills. The role requires a teacher who can inspire students to develop both a passion for English and an appreciation of literature’s relevance to the world around them.
Working within a collaborative department, you will contribute to the development and delivery of a coherent, knowledge‑rich curriculum grounded in the principles of Explicit Instruction, Cognitive Load Theory and the Science of Learning. You will work alongside experienced colleagues to design high‑quality lessons, use evidence‑informed assessment practices and support students to achieve their academic potential.
About You
- Demonstrated experience and expertise in teaching English from Years 7–12, including VCE.
- A deep understanding of contemporary evidence‑informed teaching practices.
- Strong curriculum planning, assessment and differentiation skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building abilities, with a commitment to working collaboratively with students, families and colleagues.
- Relevant teaching qualifications and current VIT registration (or eligibility to obtain registration).
- A genuine commitment to student wellbeing, diversity, inclusion and child safety.
