An exciting opportunity has arisen to join BEW Electrical Distributors as a Senior Lighting Design Engineering in their new Lighting Design Team.

Working alongside our Director of Lighting Services, you’ll play a key role in building a market-leading lighting design offering, supporting BEW’s nationwide branch network and customer base. This is a unique opportunity to help shape a new department from the ground up while working on a wide variety of commercial, industrial, education, healthcare, residential and retail projects.

About You

  • Proven experience in a lighting design, lighting applications, sales support or similar technical role.
  • Experience using DIALux Evo or Relux lighting design software.
  • Strong knowledge of lighting design principles, emergency lighting and lighting controls.
  • Good understanding of British Standards, Building Regulations and industry best practice.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills with strong attention to detail.
  • A proactive, solution-focused approach and the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Experience using AutoCAD.
  • A full UK driving licence and willingness to travel for site visits and customer meetings.
  • LIA Interior and/or Exterior qualifications.
  • Knowledge of DALI, Casambi or other lighting control platforms.
  • Experience within the electrical wholesale industry.
  • Experience using Revit or BIM software.

About the Role

  • Hours: Monday to Friday (08:30 – 17:00 (37.5 hours per week)
  • Produce professional lighting designs, calculations and technical reports.
  • Provide technical support to customers and BEW branches across the UK.
  • Work closely with contractors, consultants, architects, developers and manufacturers.
  • Conduct site surveys and visits to assess project requirements.
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant standards and regulations.
  • Support project enquiries and help convert opportunities into sales.
  • Help establish processes, standards and best practice within the new Lighting Services department.
