Overview

As a Senior Geotechnical Engineer at Arcadis, you will lead geotechnical design and ground investigations for high-profile UK infrastructure projects. You will work with a multi-disciplinary team to deliver technical reports, ensure deliverable quality, and support project commercial aspects. This role offers growth through hands-on delivery, mentoring, and collaboration with senior professionals.

You will contribute to sustainable outcomes and complex geotechnical decisions, with opportunities to influence project success and client relationships.

Responsibilities
  • Support development and implementation of engineering solutions
  • Independently drive routine and non-routine projects with technical guidance
  • Manage resources across single or multiple projects
  • Resolve technical issues and collaborate with other design disciplines
  • Provide input and champion quality and innovation
  • Ensure deliverables meet project requirements (drawings, reports, specifications)
  • Oversee commercial aspects (contract, invoicing, debt management, client management)
  • Build relationships with Project Director/Manager and Client
  • Check geotechnical calculations and project documentation for standards and client requirements
  • Develop yourself and team members; promote health and safety culture
  • Perform other duties as required by line manager and Team Leader
Key requirements
  • BEng in Civil Engineering with geotechnical bias; or BSc/BEng in Geoscience related degree
  • MSc/MEng in Geotechnical Engineering or similar
  • Chartered Engineer or imminently due for Professional Review
  • Strong foundations design experience (shallow/deep), retaining walls, slope stability
  • Experience with ground investigation design and implementation
  • Proficiency with geotechnical design tools (OpenGround required; Leapfrog desirable)
  • Experience with routine geotechnical data management applications (OpenGround required; Leapfrog desirable)
  • Ability to check deliverables and communicate technically in writing and verbally
  • Team leadership, mentoring, and client-facing capabilities
  • Flexibility to travel within the UK and hold a valid driving licence
  • Good written communication
  • Good verbal communication and motivational skills
