Requisition #:669306 Location: Sibley Memorial Hospital, Washington, DC 20016 Category: Finance Schedule: Day Shift Employment Type: Full Time This is a hybrid position, with 3 days onsite at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC. Summary: Knowledge of SQL and Power BI is preferred. Under the guidance of the Director of Finance, reports the financial status by preparing and analyzing financial plans, forecasts, and reports.
Essential Duties Understand the business aspects of an operation and achieve status as the business expert for the assigned areas of responsibility, including an understanding of demand, market share, capacity, workload, utilization, standards, productivity, profitability, etc. Identify the routine business, financial, and statistical information necessary to optimally manage the business of an operation/program; contribute to design of the organization’s business systems and coordinate definition of data elements within systems. Continuously monitor and assess events occurring in the environment for their economic consequence; interpret impact; collaborate with management in planning to optimize organization’s position.
Coordinate and support management’s process developing annual operating and capital budgets; ensure disclosure and attest reasonableness of assumptions; support derivation of complex calculations; formulate recommendations. Analyze actual performance, compare with established budgets, plans, and standards; report and interpret results; formulate recommendations for action. Facilitate timely communication between all levels of Operations management and the Finance function regarding business implications.
Consult with management on policy related to business operations, effectiveness of policies, structure, procedures, and resource consumption; develop comparable operations information. Develop improvement initiatives; collaborate with Operations and Finance management to develop plans for improved performance; structure and analyze complex decisions; formulate recommendations; support implementation; evaluate decisions. Assist Operational managers with presentation of business proposals.
Organize the business information of an operation/program in a manner that supports routine communication and financial projections. Educate and advise management on accounting, business, and financial management principles; develop understanding of policies and procedures. Prepare work plans that support completion of tasks.
Structure, prepare, and interpret schedules, analyses, and reports for decision-making. Design, construct, analyze, and interpret financial models (multi-year proformas) that present economic elements of a transaction, operation, or program. Participate as a team member on assigned organizational teams and contribute perspective to the effort.
Skills and Abilities Required Ability to use fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of financial data/medical claim analysis. Ability to work independently. Skilled at manipulating and analyzing large claims and financial databases.
In-depth knowledge of provider reimbursement terms and concepts. Knowledge of SAS or another programming language (SQL) is preferred. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
Forecasting and budgeting experience is critical. Healthcare billing industry experience is a plus. Effective communication skills, verbally and in writing, particularly to executive audiences.
Minimum Education and Experience A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university in Accounting, Business Management, Economics, Finance, or a related field is required. A master’s degree in Business or a related field (MBA, MS, MHA) and/or attainment of advanced certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, FHFMA) is desired. A minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible professional experience in financial planning and analysis, budget management and modeling, and accounting and financial control systems is required.
Salary Range: $48.21/hour - $77.14/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility. JHM prioritizes the health and well-being of every employee.
