Senior Engineer - Remote

Codeworks, an LRS company, is seeking a Senior Engineer for a contract opportunity. In this role, you will leverage your skills to contribute to high‑value projects and support key initiatives for one of our client partners. In this role, the Senior Engineer applies technical expertise to design and deliver solutions that meet customer and business needs by independently analyzing problems and proposing scalable, effective approaches aligned with the broader engineering strategy.

The position involves developing core processes, automation, and software components both independently and in collaboration with team members, consistently ensuring high standards of performance, stability, scalability, and resilience. The engineer contributes to a culture of continuous learning by sharing new techniques, tools, and ideas, while also participating in team discussions to provide technical insight, remove roadblocks, support product planning, and help break down work into actionable tasks. Additionally, the Senior Engineer collaborates with the team to refine engineering standards, templates, and frameworks; actively supports DevOps initiatives through continuous technology assessment, data‑driven improvements, and expanded use of the CI/CD pipeline; and participates in support rotations by offering subject‑matter expertise on assigned subsystems.

The role also includes contributing to vendor‑selection criteria and participating in proof‑of‑concept evaluations to ensure alignment with technology needs and organizational goals. Required Work Experience & Skills 4 years of experience in engineering environments, including transforming conceptual ideas into clear, actionable engineering plans. Solid understanding of industry‑standard SDLC practices.

Knowledge of version control processes and revision management. Understanding of systems design principles that support security and stability. Ability to debug code and analyze complex logs for troubleshooting and defect resolution.

Experience performing peer code reviews. Preferred Skills & Experience Kubernetes cluster administration (OpenShift preferred). Strong understanding of Linux environments (RHEL, CentOS, and/or Fedora).

Java Web Application Server administration (Apache Tomcat, Tanzu TC Server, IBM WebSphere preferred). Apache HTTP Server administration. AWS experience (EC2, Lambda).

Intermediate scripting experience (Bash or Python). Familiarity with automation tools such as Ansible, Terraform, GitHub Actions. Experience configuring and analyzing telemetry using observability tools (DataDog, ELK, Prometheus) The base range for this contract position is $55.00 - $85.00 hour, depending on experience.
