Job Description

Now, about this opportunity…

As a Senior Engineer at Judo, you’ll be a key part of our Engineering team, helping shape the way we build, deliver and operate technology across the bank. Working closely with Product Managers, Architects, Designers and fellow Engineers, you’ll contribute to business‑critical platforms and digital experiences that support our bankers, customers and the continued growth of Judo.

This is an exciting opportunity to work across everything from core banking services through to large‑scale, technically complex initiatives. You’ll play an active role in uplifting engineering practices, driving technical excellence, and helping shape the future of engineering at Judo as we continue to evolve our modern cloud‑native and event‑driven technology landscape.

  • Leading the technical implementation of new services from concept through to production and ongoing operations
  • Engineering clean, maintainable, secure and well‑tested solutions that support a highly regulated banking environment
  • Designing and building modern API and event‑driven services within a cloud‑native architecture
  • Contributing to and uplifting engineering practices, standards and capabilities across the team
  • Collaborating with Product, Architecture, Design and other business stakeholders to deliver valuable outcomes
  • Working with modern technologies including AWS, Thought Machine and streaming technologies

Qualifications

You’ll likely bring:

  • Experience building and supporting production‑grade software within cloud‑native environments
  • Strong engineering capability in Python and AWS, with an openness to working across multiple technologies and languages
  • Experience developing API services and working with event‑driven architectures (Kafka experience highly regarded)
  • Exposure to large‑scale, operationally critical systems and services
  • Strong problem‑solving skills with the ability to quickly learn new domains and technologies
  • Confidence making technical decisions, taking ownership and driving outcomes
  • A collaborative approach and passion for continuously improving engineering practicesCuriosity, adaptability and a desire to keep learning and growing
  • An interest in helping build innovative technology solutions that support Australian SMEs
