Overview

As a Senior Employment Counsel in London, you will own UK and EMEA employment matters within a fast-growing, global fintech. You will partner with People and business leaders to implement scalable, compliant employee lifecycle practices across regions. You’ll lead investigations, support cross-border issues, and contribute to a consistent global legal approach.

This is a high-impact role that shapes employment policy and reduces risk while supporting rapid expansion.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary employment counsel for UK and EMEA, covering hiring, performance management, terminations, compensation, investigations, and employee relations.
  • Partner with People and business leaders to implement compliant, scalable employee lifecycle practices across the region.
  • Conduct and oversee internal workplace investigations.
  • Lead employment-related litigation and pre-litigation matters.
  • Develop and scale employment processes through policies, training, templates, and tooling for UK/EMEA.
  • Monitor regulatory developments across EMEA and assess business impact.
  • Support cross-border employment issues, including remote work, international expansion, and mobility.
  • Collaborate with employment counsel in other regions to ensure consistency and share best practices across the global team.

Key requirements
  • 5–11 years’ PQE focused on UK employment law, with a mix of in-house and law firm experience preferred.
  • Qualified solicitor in England and Wales; experience in other EMEA jurisdictions is a plus.
  • Deep subject-matter expertise in UK employment law and exposure to EMEA laws.
  • Proven ability to lead or advise on sensitive employee relations matters and investigations.
  • Clear, concise communicator able to synthesize issues and advise across time zones.
  • Independent, comfortable navigating ambiguity in a high-growth environment.
  • Strong judgment, discretion, and collaborative approach.
  • Fluent in English; additional European languages a plus.
