Brief Description This position is located onsite in the Northwest Washington DC area (near L Street). The Senior Director of Development for University Development serves as a strategic leader in furthering the Foundation’s philanthropic mission and strengthening the university’s national presence. Based in Washington, D.C., this position is responsible for designing and executing comprehensive fundraising strategies that support university priorities, academic initiatives, and long-term institutional goals across all Texas A&M units including the Bush School of Government and Public Service.
The Senior Director of Development will cultivate and steward relationships with major donors, alumni, and stakeholders to secure significant philanthropic investments. This role works collaboratively with Foundation leadership, university administrators, and development colleagues to expand the university’s impact and visibility within the D.C. region and beyond. The ideal candidate is a dynamic, relationship‑driven professional with a demonstrated record of fundraising success and strategic donor engagement.
What You’ll Do As the Senior Director of Development, you will serve as an ambassador for the Texas A&M Foundation, Texas A&M University, and the Bush School in Washington, D.C. In this role, you will: Build and manage a portfolio of major gift prospects in the Washington, D.C. area and across key regions, cultivating relationships that lead to impactful philanthropic support for university‑wide and Bush School priorities Solicit major and principal gifts to advance Texas A&M University’s strategic initiatives, academic programs, student success efforts, and research endeavors Collaborate closely with university leadership, academic units, and advancement teams to identify funding opportunities and articulate philanthropic priorities to donors Lead stewardship efforts to ensure donors feel valued, engaged, and informed about the impact of their giving Serve as a strategic partner to Foundation leadership by offering insight and recommendations to strengthen donor engagement and regional presence Represent the Foundation and the university at events, meetings, and donor engagements to deepen relationships and enhance visibility Contribute to a culture of collaboration, excellence, and innovation within University Advancement What We Have to Offer Purpose: Your work fuels opportunities for students, faculty, research, and programs that create meaningful impact across the globe Competitive total compensation, including performance‑based incentives Salary range: $115,000 – $160,000 Comprehensive health benefits and more — medical, dental, life insurance, identity protection, and more — available at no cost to you Exceptional retirement benefits, including a 17% employer contribution What We Require Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience Minimum of 5+ years of fundraising experience, including major gift solicitation Proven ability to develop and execute strategic fundraising plans Strong leadership, communication, and relationship‑building skills Commitment to the mission and vision of the Texas A&M Foundation We’d Love to Find Someone With Master’s degree 8+ years of progressive development experience Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE) or similar credential Experience in nonprofit or higher education fundraising Demonstrated success securing principal gifts and cultivating high‑level donor relationships We Expect Our Team Members To Demonstrate the attributes and behaviors of a Passionate Professional Dedicated to Purposeful Philanthropy Embody the Aggie Core Values and the Foundation Beliefs Contribute to team success through knowledge‑sharing and proactive improvement Participate in establishing and achieving personal, departmental, divisional, and organizational goals aligned with the Foundation’s mission and vision For inquiries, please contact [email protected]. #J-18808-Ljbffr
