Senior Clinical Research Nurse Closing date : 07 May 2026 Band : 6 | Hours : 37.5 per week | Location : Manchester Royal Infirmary – ORC site with cross site working, Clinical Trial Management Office, Oxford Road Job Description Senior Clinical Research Nurse (Band 6) – Full‑time (37.5 hours per week) at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT). The role involves coordinating and delivering clinical research studies across multiple specialties, including colorectal, hepatology, gastro, HPB, trauma and orthopaedics, ENT, head and neck, maxillofacial, surgery, dental, cancer and other specialities. Responsibilities Coordinate and deliver clinical research studies with cross‑site collaboration.

Develop study procedures and manage clinical trial activities to meet timelines. Gain patient consent; recruit patients into studies. Provide high‑quality clinical care to participants and patients enrolled in research projects.

Collect, process, and manage samples. Maintain accurate documentation and reporting in line with Good Clinical Practice. Support the team with training, CPD and knowledge of research governance.

Qualifications Registered Nurse – currently registered with the NMC.

Degree in a healthcare subject or equivalent level of experience. Good Clinical Practice certificate. Additional specialist training.

Knowledge Understanding of clinical research and ICH‑Good Clinical Practice regulations. Knowledge of clinical and research governance. Knowledge of Trust policies and procedures.

Training and Experience Significant clinical experience within NHS. Experience working to deadlines and managing a busy workload. Experience explaining complex concepts to patients.

Evidence of CPD. Experience in clinical research and interest in research. Attributes Proactive and self‑initiated.

Calm and professional under pressure. Able to delegate and manage flexible shift patterns across multiple sites. Effective communicative skills.

Self‑motivated, innovative, conscientious and hard working. Tactful and diplomatic. Willingness to undertake training and travel to other sites.

Team player, organisationally sound and able to troubleshoot effectively. Other Skills & Abilities Respect for confidentiality. IT skills including email, Microsoft Office, electronic patient record systems and spreadsheets.

Knowledge of patient information systems and information governance. Clinical skills including venepuncture. People‑management skills.

Ability to work across different research specialities. Disclosure and Barring Service Check Subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975. Submission to DBS required.
