Job Description

AWS Accounting organization is seeking a highly motivated Sr. Accounting Manager to lead a high‑performing team and serve as a key business partner on the AWS Accounting Team. This role is central to strengthening controllership across the organization, with primary responsibility for managing and developing scalable financial controls and processes that simplify monthly reviews, enhance controllership rigor, and enable sustainable growth.

You will partner closely with finance, accounting, tech and business teams to develop long‑term strategies and drive new initiatives that support our mission, while working with key stakeholders and central teams to drive global standardization of metric and reporting definitions. This position requires collaboration across organizations to define financial and non‑financial trade‑offs in ambiguous environments, ensuring robust financial governance and control frameworks are maintained throughout. Additionally, you will lead and develop an exceptional Accounting team while actively investing in Finance and Accounting citizenship opportunities across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead a US‑based team in delivering accurate financial reporting as the primary accounting leader for the business area, directly influencing senior leaders.
  • Partner and strategize with business, accounting, finance, and tax stakeholders to ensure seamless coordination, compliance, and scalability.
  • Own critical financial reporting deliverables, including 10‑K and 10‑Q disclosures, and present key findings to AWS senior accounting leadership.
  • Drive AI automation solutions and operational improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy across accounting processes.
  • Collaborate with business teams to evaluate new AWS concepts and contracts, championing accounting controllership considerations in new business terms and launches.
  • Prepare and review technical accounting memos under US GAAP, ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Lead cross‑functional projects including process improvements, controls enhancement, and integration of accounting processes with Amazon systems.
  • Coordinate quarterly reviews and approvals of estimates, presenting conclusions to senior leadership.
  • Execute quarterly reviews and sign‑offs on SOX 404 key controls, ensuring robust internal control framework.

Basic Qualifications

  • 12+ years of finance or a related analytical field experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field.

Preferred Qualifications

  • CPA.
  • Knowledge of internal control framework (specifically COSO).
  • Knowledge of GAAP research tools and the FASB codification.
  • Experience in accounting management in Big Four with Fortune 500 clients.
  • Experience in operational accounting with one or more Fortune 500 companies.

Salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign‑on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.

  • USA, TN, Nashville – 137,700.00 – 186,300.00 USD annually
