Role: Scrub Nurse โ€“ Ophthalmology
Location: North London
Salary: Up to ยฃ46,575 per annum, dependent on experience

Are you an experienced Scrub Nurse looking for an exciting opportunity within a leading private eye hospital?
We are currently seeking an experienced Scrub Nurse to join a highly supportive and forward-thinking ophthalmology team based in North London. This is an excellent opportunity for a theatre nurse with ophthalmic or peri-operative experience to develop their career within a specialist surgical environment.
The successful candidate will play an important role within the operating theatre team, providing high-quality patient care throughout the ophthalmic surgical pathway.

The Role
The successful Scrub Nurse will be responsible for participating in all aspects of the ophthalmic surgical pathway, providing excellent standards of patient care and skilled clinical and technical assistance as a member of the operating theatre team.
The role may also involve peri-operative and post-operative care within the surgical and refractive suites, as well as assisting with minor procedures.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality nursing care throughout the patient's surgical journey, including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care.
  • Maintain the privacy, dignity and wellbeing of patients at all times.
  • Work effectively as part of the multidisciplinary operating theatre team.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and ensure appropriate surgical instruments and equipment are available.
  • Prepare and maintain the operating theatre and ensure equipment is safe and ready for use.
  • Ensure surgical equipment is disposed of appropriately and that reusable equipment is correctly decontaminated and sterilised.
  • Ensure all surgical documentation and traceability records are completed accurately.
  • Adhere to relevant clinical, departmental and organisational policies and procedures.
  • Maintain high standards of infection prevention and control.
  • Support the delivery of safe, efficient and patient-focused ophthalmic surgical services.
  • Maintain professional standards in accordance with the relevant professional code of conduct.


Requirements

  • Registered General Nurse or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP)
  • Current NMC registration (for nurses) or HCPC registration (for ODPs) with no restrictions
  • Qualification or experience in Ophthalmology or Peri-operative Care
  • Minimum of one year's ophthalmic surgical theatre experience
  • Good computer and IT skills, including Microsoft Office
  • Good understanding of professional responsibilities and relevant standards of practice
  • Awareness of CQC standards and requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong commitment to patient safety and delivering high-quality care
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team
