We are seeking enthusiastic Science Instructor Assistants to support and deliver fun, engaging STEM‑based science events for children across Galway. This is a rewarding, hands‑on role working with children in schools, after‑school clubs, parties, camps, and public science events.
After completing a few weeks of paid training and assistance in events, successful candidates will be promoted to Science Instructor, delivering sessions independently.
Main Responsibilities (Science Instructor Assistant)
Overall Purpose
We are seeking enthusiastic Science Instructor Assistants to support and deliver fun, engaging STEM‑based science events for children across Galway. This is a rewarding, hands‑on role working with children in schools, after‑school clubs, parties, camps, and public science events.
After completing a few weeks of paid training and assistance in events, successfully candidates will be promoted to Science Instructor, delivering sessions independently.
Main Responsibilities (Science Instructor Assistant)
- Assist with delivering science‑based educational sessions for children aged approximately 4–12
- Support Science Instructors during after‑school clubs, school shows, parties, camps, festivals, and corporate events
- Help with setup, pack‑down, and care of science equipment
- Ensure a safe, fun, and inclusive environment for all children
- Travel to schools and event venues across Galway
- Follow company policies, procedures, and safety standards
- Report to the Senior Activity Coordinator
Promotion to Science Instructor
After a few weeks of structured training and hands‑on experience, successful assistants will be promoted to Science Instructor, with responsibilities including:
- Independently delivering STEM‑based science sessions
- Representing the company professionally with schools, parents, and clients
- Managing equipment and session safety
- Leading engaging, age‑appropriate science demonstrations
Working Hours
- Primarily weekday afternoons, approximately 2pm–5pm, Monday to Friday during the school year
- weekend work for parties, festivals, and events (typically 11am–6pm)
- Additional hours available during Easter and Summer Camps (9am–2pm, Monday–Friday)
- Hours may vary depending on events

Pay Rates
- Science Instructor Assistant: €15 per hour
- Science Instructor: €30 per hour (or event‑based rates where applicable)

- Passion and enthusiasm for working with children
- Interest in science (no formal science qualification required)
- Experience working with children is an advantage
- Excellent communication skills
- Responsible and safety‑conscious
- Professional, reliable, and well‑organised
- Strong work ethic and positive, can‑do attitude
- Willingness to travel within Galway
Requirements
- Full access to a reliable car and full driving licence (essential)
- Laptop and smartphone with GPS
- Flexibility with working hours
- Ability to follow company policies and procedures
- Completion of an online COVID‑19 safety course (required)
