Sales & Business Development Officer
GroupEd
Job Description
CARDIFF · HYBRID, WITH TRAVEL TO SCHOOLS ACROSS THE UK · FULL TIME · £25,000–£30,000 BASE PLUS UP TO £25,000 OTE
Win new schools, own your pipeline and grow GroupEd across the UK- then look after the schools you bring on, from first hello to happy, settled customer.
About GroupEd
GroupEd is a growing EdTech company building modern, genuinely useful software for schools - from everyday tools that make school life easier through to a full management information system. We are ambitious, close-knit, and building something schools across the UK actually want.
As we grow, we are creating a brand-new role to drive that growth: someone to lead the charge on new business, then keep those schools thriving. This is that role.
The role
This is a sales-first role. Your primary job is to generate interest, open doors and turn curious schools into customers - you will own your leads and your pipeline from first contact to close.
You will also stay close to the schools you win, making sure they onboard smoothly and get real value, because in EdTech a happy, well-supported school is your best route to the next sale. It is a mix of proactive selling, relationship-building and hands‑on help-ideal for someone driven by results, who enjoys people and gets a kick out of turning interest into signed, happy customers.
What you will do
- Generate new business - proactively reach out to schools through canvassing, events and follow-up to build a healthy pipeline
- Own your leads - chase down enquiries and trial sign-ups, and drive them through to close
- Run demos - give short, compelling product demonstrations, online and in person
- Hit your targets - take ownership of clear sales goals and keep your pipeline moving
- Keep your CRM sharp - log every lead, prospect and opportunity accurately and track progress through the funnel
- Onboard new schools - help them get set up and confident so they stay and grow with us
- Retain and grow accounts - stay close to existing schools, making sure they are happy, getting value and open to doing more
- Be our ear to the ground - feed schools' feedback back to the product team
Who we are looking for
Attitude and drive matter most to us. You will fit well if you are:
- Motivated by results - you enjoy targets and the reward that comes with hitting them
- A natural people person - warm, clear and confident, whether emailing a head teacher or demoing to a school office
- Proactive and tenacious - happy to pick up the phone and open a conversation from nothing
- Organised and self-driven - comfortable juggling a pipeline and lots of moving parts at once
- Genuinely interested in and curious about AI, education, and emerging technology
- Comfortable with modern tools such as CRM and digital channels, and keen to use them to work smarter
- The holder of a full UK driving licence - you will be visiting schools across the UK
A recent graduate is desirable, but not necessary- we are looking for the right person ready to throw themselves in, or someone with early sales experience, are both welcome.
Welsh language skills and a real bonus, but not a requirement.
What we offer
- Competitive base salary of £25,000–£30,000, plus commission taking on-target earnings up to £25,000 on top
- Funded training and development
- A role with real variety and genuine ownership of your own patch
- The chance to shape a brand-new position and grow as GroupEd grows
- Company pension, generous annual leave plus enhanced family-friendly policies
- A front-row seat in an ambitious EdTech doing work that genuinely helps schools
Because you will be working with schools, an enhanced DBS check is required for this role.
