Research Science Analyst - Battery Insights

Overview

In this role you analyze trends across the battery value chain and develop market models to reveal strategic insights. You collaborate with cell makers, OEMs, suppliers, and investors to shape client recommendations. You will leverage AI tools and basic coding to accelerate analysis, contributing to McKinsey's think tank for innovation in electrification.

• Analyze trends and opportunities across the battery value chain (cell manufacturing, materials, and technologies)
• Build proprietary market models and decision tools
• Collaborate with industry players to deliver strategic insights
• Translate data into actionable, strategic recommendations
• Utilize AI tools to enhance workflows and modeling
• Contribute to the firm's think tank for innovation and decision support

• Master's degree in a relevant analytical field
• Academic background and/or first professional experience in batteries, electrification, or energy storage
• Strong interest in battery technologies and subject-matter development
• Proficiency in MS Excel and PowerPoint
• Experience with Python and data tools (SQL, Tableau, Power BI) is a plus
• Comfort using AI and automation to streamline analysis
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills
• Ability to interact confidently with senior stakeholders in fast-paced environments
• Strong process management and ability to coordinate multiple workstreams
• Excellent verbal and written English; additional languages are a plus
