Reinsurance Financial Analyst The Opportunity We are looking for a Reinsurance Financial Analyst to support the analysis, processing, and financial reporting of intermediate to complex reinsurance transactions. Reporting to the Reinsurance Financial Manager, you will identify, calculate, record, report, and settle reinsurance premiums and losses, reconcile high‑complexity activity, and maintain high‑quality financial and underwriting data. You will also provide training and oversight for peers and outsourced vendors, collaborate closely with internal stakeholders and external reinsurance partners, and proactively manage open recoverables and issues within your portfolio.

What you will do Identify, calculate, record, report, and settle reinsurance premiums and losses in relation to contract terms and department standards. Handle and collect reinsurance claims of moderate to high complexity, ensuring timely and professional follow‑up. Reconcile complex reinsurance‑related activity, identify issues, coordinate resolution, and take corrective actions as directed.

Update financial, underwriting, and claim systems to reflect accurate and complete reinsurance information. Prepare and analyze internal and external reports in accordance with regulatory and departmental guidelines, reviewing trends, anomalies, and reconciling to key data sources. Provide training and oversight review for accounts and processing responsibilities assigned to outsourced vendors and peer accounts.

Communicate regularly with supervisors, reinsurers, customers, and representatives from other departments (e.g., Claims, Actuarial, Finance). Ensure timely, accurate, and complete calculations, recording, reporting, and billing of reinsurance losses and/or premiums in accordance with contract terms and department standards. Pursue open recoverables in a timely and professional manner, escalating issues as appropriate.

Ensure established policies, procedures, and operating standards are met for all assigned responsibilities. Lead relationship management and communication with internal Zurich business partners and external reinsurance customers within your area of responsibility, including timely response to all external inquiries as prescribed by department standards. Provide ongoing workflow status, risk assessment, and issue insights to Group Reinsurance management and internal and external stakeholders.

Job Qualifications – What you bring to the table Required: Bachelor’s degree and 4+ years of experience in reinsurance, insurance, or finance; OR Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with associate degree and 4+ years experience; OR high school diploma and 6+ years experience. Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook). Preferred: Intermediate knowledge of reinsurance contracts.

Intermediate knowledge of reinsurance claim recoverable processes and link to direct claim processing. Experience in accounts receivable/payable and account reconciliation. Technology experience related to general ledger, financial reporting systems, Business Objects or other query/reporting tools.

Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to explain complex information clearly to stakeholders. Salary The salary range for this position is $63,000 – $90,000. This range reflects the expected pay for the role across Canada and may vary based on location, responsibilities, and qualifications.
