Job Description
- Provide excellent care to a diverse patient population
- Care for complex and active medical and nephrology patients with multiple co-morbidities
- Work within a team nursing care model alongside RNs and RPNs
- Rotate through Hemodialysis Units (CP2 and 2 Central) and satellite units as necessary
- Work at the General or Birchmount campus based on departmental needs
- Report to the Patient Care Manager
Requirements
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Current BCLS
- Nephrology 1 and 2 courses completed from a recognized nephrology nursing certificate program or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Successful applicants who have not completed the Nephrology course will be expected to enroll within one year
- Minimum of one year of hemodialysis experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
- Patient Assessment and Health Promotion/Teaching skills
- Must be willing to work with mixed aggregation of patients
- Proven excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making and critical-thinking skills
- Excellent organizational, time-management and team-building skills
- Ability to function independently and as a multidisciplinary team member in a fast-paced, demanding environment
- Commitment to customer service
- Commitment to SHNβs Code of Conduct and health and safety policies and legislation
