Job Description

  • Provide excellent care to a diverse patient population
  • Care for complex and active medical and nephrology patients with multiple co-morbidities
  • Work within a team nursing care model alongside RNs and RPNs
  • Rotate through Hemodialysis Units (CP2 and 2 Central) and satellite units as necessary
  • Work at the General or Birchmount campus based on departmental needs
  • Report to the Patient Care Manager

Requirements

  • Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • Current BCLS
  • Nephrology 1 and 2 courses completed from a recognized nephrology nursing certificate program or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Successful applicants who have not completed the Nephrology course will be expected to enroll within one year
  • Minimum of one year of hemodialysis experience or equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Patient Assessment and Health Promotion/Teaching skills
  • Must be willing to work with mixed aggregation of patients
  • Proven excellent interpersonal and communication skills, written and verbal
  • Excellent problem-solving, decision-making and critical-thinking skills
  • Excellent organizational, time-management and team-building skills
  • Ability to function independently and as a multidisciplinary team member in a fast-paced, demanding environment
  • Commitment to customer service
