Position Details Advertising/Posting Title: Registered Nurse Posting Summary: The University of Vermont seeks a Registered Nurse to join the Student Health Services team. The Nursing role is a multifaceted position with different working assignments including nurse-led patient appointments, phone/walk-in triage, screening provider visits, point of care testing, public health, and administrative duties. Key Responsibilities: Wide variety of different functional assignments throughout each week. Clinical nurse visits: featuring independent practice and treatment protocols with available provider support and consult.
Phone and walk-in triage: diverse opportunities to assess patient status or needs before selecting appointments and care from a variety of appointment types. A focus on direct patient care; point of care testing, assessments, procedures, and specialty clinics. Administrative nursing services: including case management and public health screenings and clearances for new and continuing students.
Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience): Bachelors degree in nursing or appropriate education to support RN licensing. Specialized Vermont Board of Medical Practice approved certification and/or licensure required. Three years related experience required.
Clinical proficiency in ambulatory clinical nursing, including triage/nurse assessment and charting required. Effective written and verbal communication skills required. Proficiency with email, internet, and health information database applications.

Vaccination of staff also provides additional protection for students who seek care with us, some of whom are immunocompromised or unable to receive vaccines for medical reasons. The following vaccinations are required for all CHWB employees: Rubeola (measles)- two rubeola vaccines, two MMR vaccines, OR a positive rubeola titer Mumps- two mumps vaccines, two MMR vaccines, OR a positive mumps titer Rubella- one rubella vaccine, one MMR vaccine, OR a positive rubella titer Varicella (chicken pox)- two varicella vaccines OR a positive varicella titer Tdap (Tetanus/Diphtheria/Acellular Pertussis) a one-time only dose for adults Hepatitis B- a series of two OR three vaccines (depending on manufacturer), followed by a positive Hepatitis B surface antibody. Tuberculosis (TB) screening: A negative two step PPD or a negative IGRA blood test (QuantiFERON Gold) Note: if you have had positive tuberculosis testing in the past it is very important that you send any records related to testing and/or treatment, and the results of your most recent chest x-ray.
