Job Description
Department/Unit: Education And Develop Work Shift: Monday-Friday, 08:00-04:30pm with occasional off‑shift and weekend rotation to support educational needs of AMC. The Education Specialist is expected to utilize their knowledge and skills to accomplish the goals of the organization. The Education Specialist achieves this goal through the roles of educator, performance consultant, and leader in collaboration with members of the Hospital, the Center, and the community.
Responsibilities Demonstrate principles of conflict resolution and promote consensus building. Represent Case Management/Social Work at organizational committee meetings as directed. Serve as AMC Liaison with executive leadership interfacing with continuum of care providers and public agencies including SNF Administrators, vendors, CHHAs, LDSS‑APS/CPS, NYS‑OMH, OPWDD, MHLS and other regulatory agencies.
Interpret laws, policies, operational procedures and objectives to ensure compliance with regulatory and legal requirements. Assist in the development of policies and procedures, standards of care and practice, and in the monitoring processes related to those standards. Demonstrate advanced knowledge and expertise in CMS, DOH, OMH, OPWDD laws and regulations pertaining to access, delivery, transition and financing across the continuum of care.
Show expertise in entitlement eligibility, managed care, guardianship, immigration and naturalization laws. Ensure efficient and effective service provision within regulatory and professional standards. Provide leadership and direction to support high‑performing staff through the development of educational activities that meet the needs of the nursing organization.
Lead the design and development of systems that support staff involvement in practice, research, education, and quality decisions; promote a collaborative environment where nurses practice at the highest level of licensure. Participate in the design, development, and implementation of orientation and continuing education programs for individuals and groups within the nursing organization. Evaluate educational outcomes of programming and link them to the quality process and patient care outcomes.
Qualifications Master’s Degree (MS‑Nursing strongly preferred). A Master’s Degree in Social Work with State licensure, Master’s in Nursing, Master’s in Education with a Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing, or a Master’s degree in an allied health field from an accredited institution is required. 3–5 years of direct critical care experience preferred. Experience in Clinical Social Work or Nursing with Case Management, Utilization Review, and Discharge Planning.
Demonstrated clinical competency in a nursing or allied health specialty. Prior experience in education program development and teaching is preferred. Ability to read and analyze documents.
Strong organizational, oral and written communication, problem‑solving, program development, computer, leadership, and team‑building skills. Ideal candidate will have pediatric nursing experience. Albany Medical is an equal opportunity employer.
