Role

As a Registered Nurse in Medical at Prince of Wales Hospital, the role involves delivering high‑quality, person‑centred care in accordance with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia Standards of Practice. The nurse is responsible for coordinating and implementing nursing care, including comprehensive assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation, to support patients in achieving optimal health outcomes. This includes maintaining accurate and timely clinical documentation, communicating effectively with patients, carers, and the multidisciplinary team, and delegating and supervising care provided by Enrolled Nurses and Assistants in Nursing within their scope of practice.

The role also encompasses participation in quality improvement initiatives, clinical supervision, and ongoing professional development, while adhering to NSW Health and SESLHD policies, demonstrating CORE values, and promoting a culture of wellbeing and exceptional care.

Selection Criteria

  • Registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Nurse/Midwife.
  • Demonstrated recent clinical experience as a Registered Nurse that applies to a medical clinical setting.
  • Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills and ability to identify key messages, issues and concerns when communicating with others.
  • Ability to work as part of an interdisciplinary team and apply professional and ethical boundaries when dealing with complex situations.
  • Current computer skills and proven ability to use health information systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to advocate for and implement person‑centred practice.
  • Demonstrated application of evidence‑based practice and critical thinking to patient care.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritise and organise own workload.
