Job Description Summary

Under general supervision, the Registered Nurse II provides individualized, goal‑directed patient care to families and patients at a competent level utilizing the principles and practices of the nursing process; delivers safe and effective care and interacts with other members of the health care team to achieve desired results.

Minimum Training and Education

• Associate degree in nursing. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• At least one year of experience as a Registered Nurse.

Required Licensure, Certifications, Registrations

• Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
• Current American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support (BLS) certification or American Red Cross BLS for Healthcare Providers certification is required.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) is required.

Physical and Mental Requirements

• Ability to perform job functions while standing, sitting, walking, climbing stairs, working indoors/outdoors, from elevated areas, in confined/cramped spaces, in kneeling positions, bending at the waist, twisting at the waist, squatting, and performing pinching operations.
• Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs unassisted; lift/lower 50 lbs from/to floor 36" unassisted; lift from 36" to overhead 25 lbs; exert up to 50 lbs of force.
• Ability to maintain visual acuity (20/40 corrected), color discrimination, depth perception, peripheral vision; hearing acuity with correction.
• Ability to perform gross and fine motor activities, including repetitive motions with hands, wrists, elbows, and shoulders, firm grasping, manipulation, reach overhead, and reach in all directions.
• Ability to deal with stressful situations, work rotating shifts, overtime as required, work in a latex‑safe environment, maintain tactile, olfactory, and respirator functions for selected positions.

Additional Physical Requirements

1. Ability to stand or sit for extended periods of time.
2. Proficiency in manual dexterity and fine motor skills for tasks such as taking patient vitals, administering injections, or conducting physical exams.
3. Capacity to lift and move patients or medical equipment as needed.
4. Visual acuity and color perception to accurately read medical charts, documents, and monitors.
5. Auditory ability to effectively communicate with patients and colleagues, as well as to perceive important sounds such as alarms or patient instructions.
6. Stamina and resilience to handle the physical and emotional demands of providing patient care, including long shifts and potentially stressful situations.
7. Mobility to navigate clinical environments, including moving between patient rooms, offices, and other areas of the facility.
8. Compliance with infection control protocols and proper use of personal protective equipment to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.
