Since 1988, the Grey Nuns Community Hospital has supported southeast Edmonton and the surrounding area with compassionate, full‑service care that meets a wide range of health needs. The hospital is conveniently located near transit, parks and shops in the heart of the Mill Woods neighbourhood. The Surgery Float pool supports both Units 41 and 42.
Both units are high acuity, high patient turnover and high intensity. Both units provide an equally challenging environment working alongside supportive teams. Unit 41 is the inpatient unit for the Northern Alberta Vascular Centre specializing in vascular surgery.
The patient population also consists of general surgery, orthopedics and plastics. Unit 42 is the main inpatient unit for general surgery, gynecological surgery, orthopedics, plastics and ENT. Both teams strive to provide the best in patient care with a focus on engaging both patients and family in care delivery.
Description The Registered Nurse (RN) participates in nursing assessments and interventions, care planning, implementing prescribed treatments, administering medications, evaluating treatments, and monitoring/documenting treatment progress and patient/resident response. Acting as an advocate, coordinator and liaison for the patient/resident, the RN identifies needs and sets priorities in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. The RN facilitates patient/resident and family education and discharge planning, and may be required to act in a charge nurse capacity.
The RN is responsible for the provision of care in accordance with established standards, and the Mission, Vision, Values, policies and procedures of Covenant Health. This position is covered by the terms and conditions of the UNA Collective Agreement. Active registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA) required. Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider (Level C) required.
