Part-Time Nurse (RN/RPN) – Leave Management Support Job Type: Part-Time Location: Remote/Hybrid Hours: 20 hours per week (approximately 4 hours per day, Monday–Friday) Position Overview We are seeking a compassionate and detail-oriented Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) to join our team in a remote, part-time capacity . This role will support the organization’s leave management and occupational health programs , primarily focusing on short-term and long-term disability case management for employees across Canada. The ideal candidate will have experience in disability management, occupational health, or workers’ compensation case management , along with strong communication and organizational skills.

This position plays an important role in supporting employee health, ensuring compliance with disability guidelines, and facilitating safe and timely return-to-work programs. Key Responsibilities Leave Management & Case Initiation Triage all new short-term disability (STD) requests . Contact employees within 24 business hours of receiving a leave request.

Provide health education and resources related to diagnoses when appropriate. Assess eligibility and necessity for short-term disability benefits . Determine whether requests meet criteria for disability leave versus standard time-off benefits .

Initiate and distribute short-term disability documentation and information packages to employees. Case Management & Documentation Create and maintain cases within the occupational health tracking system . Maintain accurate records in case tracking tools and spreadsheets.

Review medical documentation to confirm disability benefit eligibility. Maintain regular communication with employees regarding diagnosis updates and treatment plans . Review and verify return-to-work (RTW) plans in accordance with Official Disability Guidelines (ODG) .

Monitor ongoing cases to ensure compliance with ODG timelines and escalate cases when guidelines are exceeded. Communication & Coordination Communicate with managers and supervisors regarding disability leave dates and estimated return-to-work timelines. Notify managers when employees are medically cleared for full-duty return to work .

Escalate cases involving work restrictions to appropriate leadership to support workplace accommodations. Monitor incident reports and identify work-related injuries or illnesses that require follow-up. Conduct outreach and support employees who may require medical guidance or case management.

Coverage & Occupational Health Support Provide coverage for Occupational Health Nurse (OHN) responsibilities during scheduled absences. Conduct telephonic triage for work-related injuries or illnesses , advising on first aid or off-site care when necessary. Report claims to Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) and follow up with employees regarding diagnosis and treatment.

Support management of workplace injury and illness cases , including return-to-work coordination with managers. Qualifications Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) or Registered Practical Nurse (RPN) license in Ontario, Canada . Experience in disability case management, occupational health, or workers’ compensation case management is preferred.

Strong organizational, documentation, and case management skills . Excellent verbal and written communication abilities . Ability to work independently in a remote environment while maintaining strict confidentiality.

Proficiency with electronic health records, case management systems, and tracking tools . #J-18808-Ljbffr
