Job Description
The Quality Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, and management of the site's Quality Assurance strategy, ensuring the consistent production of safe, legal, and high-quality food products. Working closely with the Technical team, this role oversees the quality management system across the business and drives a culture of continuous improvement.
The successful candidate will provide technical support to Production and Maintenance teams, ensuring compliance with food safety standards, customer requirements, and relevant legislation while continually enhancing the Quality Assurance system.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage the site Quality Department.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across quality and food safety systems.
- Oversee the site's product traceability programme.
- Develop, implement, and maintain quality management procedures and systems.
- Monitor customer complaints, investigate root causes, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Ensure compliance with internal standards, customer specifications, legal requirements, and industry best practices.
- Review, update, and maintain Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
- Collaborate with Production and Maintenance teams to support quality objectives.
- Conduct inspections, audits, and product sampling throughout the manufacturing process, including supplier quality activities.
- Deliver quality and food safety training to employees, ensuring understanding and compliance with company procedures.
- Coordinate and manage customer, regulatory, and third-party audits and inspections.
- Plan and conduct internal audits, site inspections, and structural audits to ensure compliance with recognised food safety standards.
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in a Quality Assurance or Quality Management role within the food manufacturing industry.
- Experience within a high-care, chilled, or meat processing environment is advantageous but not essential.
- Strong knowledge of food safety, quality management systems, and relevant legislation.
- Experience managing customer, regulatory, and third-party audits.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
- A proactive approach with a commitment to continuous improvement.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments to achieve quality and operational objectives.
