Role Overview

The Project Manager is responsible for managing assigned engineering projects from initiation through to completion, ensuring the delivery of high-quality outcomes on time, within budget, and in line with client expectations. This role requires solid project management skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to coordinate cross-functional teams and stakeholders effectively. The Project Manager will execute project plans efficiently and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

Project Delivery & Execution

  • Coordinate in-house cross-functional teams and subcontractors through all phases of engineering projects, ensuring project deliverables are achieved on time and within budget.
  • Manage assigned projects in parallel, including the coordination of site works, resource scheduling, procurement requests, and associated logistics.
  • Interpret client requirements to execute detailed project plans, scopes of work, and delivery schedules; track technical information inputs and flag potential timeline adjustments.
  • Review project scopes and specifications to understand required resources and maintain project schedules accordingly.
  • Track the commercial performance of assigned projects, reporting variances and supporting corrective actions throughout the project lifecycle.

Project Team Coordination

  • Coordinate project-specific teams to ensure effective day-to-day execution and strict adherence to health and safety requirements.
  • Foster collaboration and teamwork across assigned project engagements and within the wider organisation.
  • Address project issues and bottlenecks promptly and professionally to maintain project momentum.

Client & Stakeholder Communication

  • Communicate effectively and regularly with clients and internal/external stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Build strong, professional relationships with clients, ensuring their expectations are managed and project milestones are clearly communicated.
  • Attend kick-off and progress meetings on-site and off-site, providing clear project updates including procurement status, production progress, delivery timelines, and site activities.

Project Controls & Documentation

  • Create and maintain essential project documentation including schedules, budgets, risk registers, progress reports, quality plans, issue logs, change orders, close-out reports, and MSRAs.
  • Liaise with the Accounts Department to assist with the financial tracking of projects, including material sourcing validation, cost tracking, and invoicing updates.
  • Coordinate outsourcing requirements as directed and communicate any operational issues to project leaders.

Commercial & Departmental Contribution

  • Identify potential opportunities to enhance client service offerings and share these insights with the sales and management teams.
  • Capture lessons learned and best practices from completed projects to support future project success and departmental growth.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives within the department in line with company ISO standards.

Essential Qualifications

Required Skills and Qualifications -Project Manager

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related technical discipline
  • Minimum 3-5 years' experience managing engineering or technical projects
  • Demonstrated experience managing project schedules, timelines, and budgets.
  • Solid understanding of project management methodologies and tools.
  • Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and subcontractors.
  • Full, clean driving licence (if site travel is required).

Technical Skills

  • Strong project planning and scheduling skills, including resource tracking and critical path awareness.
  • Good commercial awareness with experience tracking project costs, monitoring budgets, and assisting with financial reporting.
  • Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera, or equivalent).
  • Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and client requirement briefs.
  • Clear understanding of health & safety regulations and site compliance requirements.
  • Experience maintaining project documentation (risk registers, quality plans, change orders, MSRAs, etc.).
