Job Description
The Project Engineer is responsible for supporting the development and execution of the engineering phase of projects, ensuring the accurate preparation and timely delivery of technical documentation, providing technical support to customers, EPC contractors, and other stakeholders, and monitoring engineering progress. The role contributes to meeting project schedules, contractual requirements, and overall project objectives.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide technical support to customer personnel, EPC contractors, and other stakeholders during the engineering phase of projects, ensuring the proper implementation of technical solutions.
- Monitor engineering progress and report project status to the Project Manager, identifying risks, deviations, and opportunities for improvement.
- Organize, coordinate, and participate in design review meetings, ensuring proper management of technical comments, action items, and agreements.
- Prepare, review, and ensure the timely delivery of drawings, diagrams, calculations, and all technical documentation required for project execution.
- Develop and update drawings, single-line diagrams, layouts, and other engineering documentation using AutoCAD and other applicable engineering software.
- Prepare engineering calculations, technical reports, specifications, and documentation in accordance with contractual requirements, applicable standards, and engineering best practices.
- Conduct site visits to provide specialized technical support, verify project progress, resolve technical issues, and support the successful execution of project activities.
- Develop and deliver technical training sessions for customers, contractors, and internal teams regarding the company's products, solutions, and applications.
- Coordinate and manage subcontractors and suppliers involved in engineering activities or project-specific deliverables.
- Monitor, consolidate, and report project progress to internal and external stakeholders, ensuring timely and effective communication.
- Support project contractual and document management activities, including CAP, CAF, contractual milestones, and project close-out processes.
- Analyze and resolve technical issues related to photovoltaic (PV) systems, Energy Storage Systems (ESS/BESS), substations, power converters, SCADA systems, and other energy solutions.
- Coordinate technical activities with customers, developers, utilities, EPC contractors, and other project stakeholders to ensure successful project execution.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes by incorporating lessons learned, industry best practices, and optimizing engineering tools and methodologies.
- Perform other duties related to the position as assigned.
Requirements
Required Experience
- Minimum 3 years of experience in project engineering within the energy, electrical, or related industries.
- At least 1 year of experience in BESS, PV, SCADA, or related renewable energy projects.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Power Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or another related engineering discipline.
Additional Requirements
- Availability to travel.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office 365.
- Advanced English (written and spoken).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD.
- Experience with SCADA systems, including configuration, commissioning, integration, monitoring, troubleshooting, or operation of industrial or utility-scale SCADA platforms.
- Strong technical knowledge of photovoltaic systems, solar inverters, ESS/BESS, power converters, substations, and associated electrical systems.
- Solid understanding of engineering processes, technical design, and project documentation.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and solve complex technical problems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with customers, EPC contractors, project developers, utilities, consultants, and other stakeholders within the energy sector.
- Knowledge of international electrical codes, standards, and regulations applicable to renewable energy projects is highly desirable.
General Working Conditions
- Full-time position.
- Work Location: Santiago, Chile.
- The role supports Sungrow projects throughout Chile and may require travel to Sungrow projects in other countries.
