We are currently seeking an experienced Production Engineer to join our Engineering team based at our Forrestfield Office.

About the Role

As a Production Engineer, you'll play a key role in improving manufacturing processes, driving operational efficiency, and supporting the production of industry‑leading road transport equipment.

Working closely with the Senior Production Engineer, Engineering team and Production departments, you'll identify opportunities to improve productivity, reduce waste, optimise manufacturing processes and ensure our products continue to meet the highest standards of quality, safety and performance.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys solving complex engineering challenges, working collaboratively across departments and making a tangible impact on manufacturing performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and improve manufacturing processes to increase efficiency, reduce waste and maintain exceptional quality standards
  • Collaborate with Production to develop and optimise production schedules that meet customer requirements and maximise resource utilisation
  • Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives across production processes
  • Analyse production data to identify trends, improve performance and support informed decision‑making
  • Investigate and resolve production issues to minimise downtime and maintain workflow
  • Monitor production costs and identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality
  • Review materials and recommend cost‑effective alternatives where appropriate
  • Work closely with Design, Procurement, Logistics and Production teams to ensure smooth project delivery
  • Assist with product improvements and engineering changes across relevant product lines
  • Support the Engineering team by resolving technical and manufacturing‑related queries
  • Liaise with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure engineering requirements are achieved
  • Ensure compliance with Australian Standards, quality requirements and workplace safety obligations
  • Contribute to maintaining a safe, collaborative and continuous improvement‑focused culture

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Essential

  • Degree or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering or a related discipline
  • 3–5 years' experience within a heavy manufacturing or engineering environment
  • Strong experience using ERP systems
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor 3D modelling/detailing
  • Sound understanding of Australian Standards relating to engineering drawings, welding and metal fabrication
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving and process improvement skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Intermediate Microsoft Office skills
  • Ability to work autonomously while collaborating effectively within multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail

Desirable

  • Experience within heavy vehicle or trailer manufacturing
  • Previous experience supporting production engineering and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Confidence identifying opportunities for improvement and presenting practical solutions
  • Strong research and analytical capability
  • Leadership experience or the ability to influence positive change within operational teams
