Practice Accountant

Location: Ferndown
Salary: Up to £35,000 per year, depending on experience
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

The Company

We are working with a growing and well-established accountancy practice in Ferndown, who are looking to recruit a Practice Accountant to join their busy team.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practice accountant looking to develop their career within a supportive and forward-thinking firm.

The Role

The successful candidate will ideally be ACA, ACCA or AAT Level 4 qualified, either part or fully qualified, with previous experience working within an accountancy practice.

You will manage a varied portfolio of clients and be responsible for delivering a high-quality accounts and tax service, while building strong relationships with clients.

Key Responsibilities
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns.

  • Preparing statutory accounts.

  • Preparing corporation tax returns.

  • Reviewing client financial records for accuracy, completeness and compliance.

  • Managing day-to-day client queries and requests.

  • Communicating professionally with clients by telephone, email and Microsoft Teams.

  • Managing internal and external email queries.

  • Maintaining accurate internal records and processes.

  • Following up with clients to obtain information and documentation.

  • Working towards defined performance targets and KPIs.

  • Providing a high level of customer service at all times.

About You

The ideal candidate will have:

  • ACA, ACCA or AAT Level 4 qualification/studies.

  • Previous accountancy practice experience.

  • At least two year's experience within an accountancy practice

  • Experience preparing accounts and tax work.

  • Knowledge of VAT returns and corporation tax.

  • Experience using accounting software.

  • Good knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Outlook.

  • Strong communication and customer service skills.

  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

  • A willingness to learn and develop.

  • The ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

  • Good organisation skills and the ability to manage deadlines.

  • A strong team-focused approach.

Salary & Benefits
  • Salary up to £30,000, depending on experience.

  • 25 days' holiday plus bank holidays.

Working hours: 9.00am–5.15pm, Monday to Friday.
