Plant Maintenance Technician

The Plant Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining the safety, reliability, and functionality of all facility infrastructure, production equipment, and support systems. This role performs preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities while coordinating external contractors and service providers to ensure minimal disruption to operations.

The Plant Maintenance Technician acts as the site's facility and equipment reliability lead, ensuring infrastructure and production support systems operate safely, efficiently, and with minimal downtime.

The successful candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, troubleshooting skills, and practical experience maintaining industrial facilities and manufacturing equipment. This is a hands‑on role requiring a high degree of autonomy, initiative, and accountability. The position serves as the primary point of contact for facility maintenance activities, equipment reliability initiatives, contractor coordination, and continuous improvement projects throughout the site.

Key Responsibilities:

Facility Maintenance:

  • Monitor, maintain, inspect, and repair building infrastructure including:
    • Electrical systems
    • HVAC systems
    • Compressed air systems
    • Plumbing systems
    • Lighting systems
    • Doors, docks, and access systems
    • Structural building components
  • Conduct routine facility inspections and identify maintenance requirements.
  • Ensure facilities remain compliant with applicable building, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Respond to facility‑related issues in a timely manner to support safe and efficient operations.

Equipment Maintenance:

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on manufacturing, aircraft support, and facility support equipment.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and facility‑related issues.
  • Coordinate equipment repairs to minimize production downtime.
  • Maintain maintenance records, work orders, inspection reports, and equipment histories.
  • Assist with equipment installations, relocations, upgrades, and decommissioning activities.

Preventive Maintenance Program:

  • Develop, maintain, and execute preventive maintenance schedules.
  • Identify opportunities to improve equipment reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Support root cause investigations and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Monitor maintenance performance metrics and recommend continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain maintenance documentation and records to support operational requirements.

Facility & Equipment Reliability Leadership:

  • Serve as the site's subject matter expert for facility and equipment reliability.
  • Establish priorities for maintenance activities based on operational requirements, safety, and risk.
  • Identify and implement reliability improvements that reduce downtime and maintenance costs.
  • Partner with Operations, Engineering, Quality Assurance, Health & Safety, and Supply Chain to ensure facility and equipment performance supports business objectives.
  • Develop and maintain long‑term facility and equipment maintenance plans.

Contractor & Vendor Management:

  • Coordinate and supervise external contractors and service providers.
  • Obtain quotations and support procurement of maintenance materials, parts, and services.
  • Ensure contractors comply with company safety requirements and site procedures.
  • Verify completion and quality of contracted work.
  • Act as the primary site contact for maintenance‑related contractor activities.

Safety & Compliance:

  • Follow and promote all company safety policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Support workplace inspections, corrective actions, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in emergency response activities as required.
  • Ensure maintenance activities are performed in accordance with applicable codes, standards, and regulations.

General Responsibilities:

  • Operate company vehicles and equipment as required.
  • Respond to urgent maintenance requirements and facility emergencies.
  • Support capital projects, facility improvements, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • Valid driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
  • Minimum five years of industrial maintenance, facility maintenance, millwright, industrial mechanic, or related experience.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills across mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience coordinating contractors, vendors, and service providers.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and specifications.
  • Strong organizational and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work independently with minimal supervision.

Preferred:

  • Journeyperson certification as a Millwright, Industrial Mechanic, Electrician, HVAC Technician, or equivalent trade certification.
  • Experience in aerospace, manufacturing, heavy industrial, or maintenance environments.
  • Experience with CMMS or maintenance management systems.
  • Knowledge of applicable building, electrical, safety, environmental, and regulatory codes.
