You'll become the internal subject matter expert for Workday Payroll, ensuring a smooth, compliant and accurate payroll service for approximately 250 employees across two UK entities.

The team describe themselves as a "family", operating with a strong no-blame approach where people work together to solve problems and continuously improve. They're looking for someone who is calm, organised and approachable, with the confidence to bring structure without disrupting the positive culture.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage the end-to-end monthly payroll process for two UK entities.
  • Act as the internal Workday Payroll expert and system owner.
  • Ensure payroll integrations with banks and HMRC run successfully, whilst managing manual inputs including commissions, bonuses and share awards.
  • Ensure full compliance with UK payroll legislation, tax, pensions and statutory payments including SSP and maternity pay.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies, identifying opportunities to strengthen controls and improve processes.
  • Create robust payroll documentation, calendars and checklists to support operational excellence.
  • Act as the first point of contact for payroll queries, partnering closely with HR and Finance to provide expert guidance.

About You

We're looking for someone who can hit the ground running and bring confidence to a recently established in-house payroll function.

You'll ideally have:

  • Strong hands-on experience managing Workday Payroll.
  • Experience supporting a Workday Payroll implementation or post-go-live environment.
  • Excellent knowledge of UK payroll legislation, HMRC requirements and pension auto-enrolment.
  • Advanced Excel skills with the ability to reconcile and analyse payroll data.
  • Exceptional attention to detail and a naturally organised approach.
  • The ability to work independently whilst building strong relationships across the business.
  • A calm, proactive and solutions-focused mindset.

Benefits

  • 10% annual performance bonus
  • Private Medical Insurance (BUPA)
  • Life Assurance (3x annual salary)
  • Contributory Pension Scheme (4% employee / 4% employer via salary sacrifice)
  • 25 days annual leave
  • Free onsite parking
  • Cycle to Work Scheme
  • Eye care vouchers
  • Regular team socials and pay-day lunches
