What Youll Be Doing (position summary):

The Payment Processor, ISP/ISBO, is responsible for the day-to-day review and processing of payments for domestic and overseas clients, ensuring accurate and timely delivery of payment commitments. The role supports end to end processing, maintains high data integrity, and upholds client satisfaction while meeting productivity and service level standards.

How Youll Succeed (responsibilities):

  • Process corrections and amendments to payment information to ensure data accuracy and timely execution
  • Repair Swift payments in IWS, ensuring accuracy and completeness for further review by verification team
  • Review and validate payment information in IWS to reconcile against corresponding transactions in ASG portal. Ensure completeness of information, and correct missing or inaccurate details as required
  • Liaise with internal partners to resolve discrepancies and ensure customer satisfaction
  • Organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines and handle critical transactions efficiently
  • Stay updated on internal and external changes affecting payment operations
  • Assist in departmental initiatives and projects for continuous improvement
  • Identify and recommend routine improvements to processes and services
  • Identify and escalate issues requiring further analysis or investigation
  • Maintain system access and confidential material in strict compliance with audit requirements

CROSS-FUNCTIONAL RELATIONSHIPS:

  • Regular interaction with internal CIBC employees, teams, and departments to obtain, provide, and clarify information

  • As an employee of CIBC, the incumbent must comply with all applicable CIBC and Line of Business policies, standards, guidelines and controls

AUTHORITIES/DECISION RIGHTS:

  • As a key contributor to the business unit, this job has the authority to recommend changes to business processes to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness

JOB DIMENSIONS:

  • Processes high volumes of domestic and international payments daily, ensuring accuracy, compliance, and timely completion within established service level agreements and key performance indicators

Experience: 2+ years of experience

Who You Are (skills/qualifications):

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience may be considered
  • 2+ years of experience in the financial services industry, preferably in payment or treasury operations
  • Proficiency in English (written and verbal)

Must Have Skills:

  • Familiarity with internal CIBC systems and applications (e.g., COINS Foreign Exchange)
  • Good keyboarding (minimum 50 wpm) and PC skills
  • Strong knowledge of payment and treasury operations, processes, and standards
  • Effective communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills with the ability to build trust
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize workload in a high-volume environment
  • Analytical and systematic thinking, with sound reasoning, results orientation, and initiative
  • Independent judgment and decision-making skills, including appropriate escalation
  • Ability to work well under pressure with excellent attention to accuracy and detail
  • Commitment to confidentiality and the ability to handle sensitive information in accordance with CIBC policies, business ethics, and regulatory standards
  • Understanding of business process design and risk management
