PAT Engineer

Walker Cole International is partnering with a fast-growing pharmaceutical company in Dublin to find their new PAT Engineer.

This is a strong opportunity for someone who wants to specialise in Process Analytical Technology and play a genuine technical role in process development, working across upstream and downstream bioprocessing on a range of projects.

What you'll be doing:

• Applying PAT technologies, including spectroscopy and chemometric modelling, within process development programmes, from lab scale through to scale-up.
• Building and running scale-down lab models to help understand and optimise manufacturing-scale operations.
• Developing and supporting digital workflows for process monitoring, data acquisition and chemometric analysis, and embedding these into project delivery.
• Providing technical input and recommendations on PAT applications and keeping pace with new tools and technologies in the space.
• Preparing and presenting technical reports and project findings to internal and external stakeholders.
• Supporting scale-up and technology transfer activities as projects move from lab to plant scale.

What we're looking for:

• Strong chemical or bioprocess engineering background, with hands-on PAT experience (Raman, NIR, FTIR, UV-Vis or similar).
• Experience building and applying chemometric models in a regulated bioprocessing environment.
• Solid grounding in QbD, DoE and process characterisation, with exposure to upstream and/or downstream unit operations.
• Experience supporting scale-up/scale-down and tech transfer work.
• Confident with statistical or modelling software (JMP, Minitab, MATLAB, Python, SIMCA or similar).
• Strong technical communication skills, comfortable presenting to a range of stakeholders.
