Sai Mental Health is a SAPTA-accredited outpatient behavioral health organization dedicated to providing high-quality, compassionate care to adolescents and adults struggling with mental health and substance use disorders. We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Substance Abuse Counselor to join our multidisciplinary team.
Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Substance Abuse Counselor to join our team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in addiction counseling and mental health services, providing support to individuals struggling with substance use disorders. This role involves conducting assessments, developing treatment plans, and facilitating both individual and group therapy sessions.
The Substance Abuse Counselor will work collaboratively with other providers, clients and their families to promote recovery and improve overall well-being.
Position Summary
The Substance Abuse Counselor Will provide direct clinical services to clients with substance use disorders in an outpatient setting. This includes conducting assessments, facilitating individual and group counseling sessions, and developing treatment and aftercare plans in compliance with SAPTA guidelines and standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct individual substance abuse counseling to clients.
- Facilitate group substance abuse counseling sessions.
- Co-facilitate Adolescent Co-Occurring IOP
- Conduct and maintain updated substance abuse assessments - ASAMs - to guide treatment planning.
- Develop individual treatment plans, progress notes and discharge/transition summaries in accordance with SAPTA documentation standards.
- Ensure compliance with SAPTA guidelines, state regulations, and agency policies
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary team members, including Therapists, Psychiatry providers, and case managers.
- Provide client and family education on recovery, relapse prevention, and support services.
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical records.
- Implement crisis intervention strategies as needed to ensure client safety.
- Engage in case management activities, ensuring clients receive appropriate resources and support.
- Stay informed about current research in addiction medicine and behavioral health practices.
Qualifications
- Knowledge and experience with both adolescents and adults in the substance-related field.
- Bachelor's or master's degree in counseling, social work, psychology, or related field
- Licensure or certification as CADC, LADC, or state intern
- Minimum two years of experience providing substance abuse counseling in an outpatient setting
- Demonstrated experience facilitating individual and group substance abuse counseling
- Strong knowledge of ASAM assessments and treatment planning.
- Familiarity with SAPTA guidelines and compliance standards.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and organizational skills
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary treatment team
