Job Description
One of our clients, a major oil and gas company has tasked us with identifying an experienced Optimization Engineer to support their operations in Calgary, AB on a 1-year contract, working Monday to Friday, 8 hours per day. This role sits within the Value Chain Decision Support team and plays a critical part in supporting all stages of asset development and operations, including contributions to technology commercialization. The successful candidate will drive system-wide optimization across production facilities, with a strong focus on gas offtake management and overall production efficiency.
The position is centered on ensuring safe and efficient production delivery from the proved developed reserve base while continuously identifying opportunities to enhance performance, remove bottlenecks, and optimize production and injection systems across the asset lifecycle. Main Functions Perform comprehensive, daily system optimization across all production facilities, with particular focus on gas offtake management Drive delivery of safe and efficient production from the proved developed reserve base Deliver expert optimization of production and injection systems across projects and operations Identify, assess, and contribute to execution of safe debottlenecking initiatives Maintain and support a robust pipeline of optimization and impact-reduction opportunities Tasks and Responsibilities In addition to core responsibilities, the Optimization Engineer will: Drive delivery of safe and efficient production from the proved developed reserve base Provide expert-level optimization support for production and injection systems throughout the project lifecycle Identify and support execution of debottlenecking initiatives to enhance system performance Contribute to the development and maintenance of a strong optimization opportunity portfolio (“options hopper”) Promote and uphold a strong safety culture aligned with operational objectives, with a clear focus on achieving zero incidents within area of influence Skills and Qualifications Previous experience in a closely related optimization, production, or operations engineering role Bachelor’s degree in Engineering within a relevant discipline Broad knowledge of engineering design standards, specifications, codes, and applicable safety criteria Demonstrated ability to work effectively under tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and shifting priorities Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications Fluent in English, with strong technical and business communication skills Experience in planning, derived modeling, model validation, scheduling, or logistics-related technologies relevant to optimization work #J-18808-Ljbffr
