Operations Manager Location: Iqaluit, NU Type: Full time, Onsite Compensation: $145,000 â $160,000 + bonus + northern incentives Relocation: Required (non-rotational) About the Company This opportunity is with a wellâestablished, northernâbased real estate owner and operator with a longâstanding presence in Nunavut. The organization owns and manages a diverse mixedâuse portfolio, including residential, hospitality, and essential commercial assets that support dayâtoâday life in northern communities. About the Role This role is designed for someone who is energized by responsibility, autonomy and adventureâ and who is ready to fully immerse themselves in a northern environment. It is a fullâtime, onsite leadership role based in Iqaluit that is not rotational. The successful candidate will relocate to the North and become an integral part of the local operation and community. As the Operations Manager, you will oversee building operations across a mixedâuse portfolio in Nunavut and Yellowknife. Youâll lead complex building systems, manage and support onâsite teams, and ensure operational continuity in a remote setting where strong decisionâmaking and handsâon leadership truly matter.
This position goes well beyond technical operations. It requires a leader who can manage people, budgets, vendors, and infrastructureâand who sees operations as a longâterm commitment to stability, safety, and community impact in the North. Responsibilities Oversee dayâtoâday operations across residential, hotel, and commercial assets Manage and maintain central and district heating plants (primary operational focus) Lead, mentor, and support a team of approximately 10 onâsite staff Ensure compliance with power engineering, safety, and regulatory standards Oversee preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance, and capital planning Contribute to financial reporting, budgeting, and cost controls Manage vendor relationships and service contracts Handle tenant, operational, and conflictâmanagement issues Lead emergency response and ensure operational continuity in a remote environment Act as a senior operational leader reporting to the Director of Property Management Requirements Power Engineering certification Minimum 7+ years of experience in building operations and maintenance Power engineering experience within a building environment Team leadership and people management skills Financial reporting and operational budgeting experience Strong, wellârounded understanding of building systems (not plantâonly) Willingness and ability to relocate fullâtime to the North Compensation & Perks Base Salary: $145,000 â $155,000 Bonus: Up to 10% Vacation: 5 weeks Travel Allowance: $6,000 annually (paid quarterly) Housing: Companyâsupported housing with approximately 75% of rent subsidized Relocation Support Includes: Flights for the entire family â $2,500 moving allowance Reality Check Comfortable with remote northern living Thrive with autonomy, accountability, and complexity Understand that weather, logistics, and emergency preparedness are part of daily operations Seeking challenge, leadership, and longâterm impact, not a rotational assignment #J-18808-Ljbffr
