Job Description

Operations Manager – Host Family Accommodation

Company Description

Famworld is Ireland’s largest Host Family community, with Host Families across every county in Ireland. We connect students and language schools with welcoming, carefully selected families, providing high-quality accommodation and an authentic Irish experience.

Technology is at the heart of what we do. Famworld is transforming the traditional Host Family accommodation model by using technology to make managing large volumes of students and groups more efficient, streamlined and effective — while improving the overall experience for both students and Host Families.

As we continue to grow, we are looking for an experienced and highly organised Operations Manager to join our team and help us scale our operations while maintaining the highest standards of service.

Role Description

The Operations Manager is a full-time position, primarily remote (approximately 95% remote and 5% office-based in Dublin). The role requires flexibility to work both weekdays and weekends, particularly during busy periods and student arrivals and departures.

The Operations Manager will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day accommodation operations at Famworld, ensuring that students, language schools and Host Families receive a smooth, efficient and high-quality service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Managing the allocation and scheduling of students with Host Families.
  • Coordinating student arrivals, departures and accommodation logistics.
  • Communicating with Host Families, students and language schools on a daily basis.
  • Recruiting, onboarding and maintaining strong relationships with Host Families.
  • Managing and resolving accommodation issues, queries and last-minute changes.
  • Ensuring sufficient Host Family capacity for upcoming groups and individual students.
  • Developing and improving operational processes to increase efficiency and scalability.
  • Monitoring operational performance and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Managing relationships with schools, partners and other external stakeholders.
  • Ensuring accommodation operations comply with relevant policies, procedures and standards.
  • Working closely with the wider Famworld team to ensure excellent service delivery.
  • Using Famworld's technology and systems to streamline operations and reduce manual administration.
  • Supporting the continuous improvement of the student and Host Family experience.

The successful candidate will play a key role in helping Famworld scale its Host Family network and operations while maintaining a high level of service and attention to detail.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Previous experience working in an English Language School in Ireland.
  • Experience managing Host Family accommodation, including communicating with, recruiting and supporting Host Families.
  • Strong understanding of the Irish English-language school and Host Family accommodation sector.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to deal calmly with unexpected operational issues.
  • Strong technology skills and confidence using online platforms and software.
  • Previous experience working as an Accommodation Manager or in a similar operational role within an English Language School.
  • Experience managing large groups of international students.
  • Experience using accommodation management, CRM or student management platforms.
  • Experience developing or improving operational processes.
  • Experience managing or coordinating a team.
  • Familiarity with student accommodation requirements, safeguarding and compliance within the English-language education sector.

What We're Looking For

We are looking for someone who is highly organised, proactive and solutions-focused, with a genuine understanding of the Host Family sector.

This is a hands-on operational role. The successful candidate should enjoy working with people, be comfortable dealing with last-minute changes and challenges, and be able to make quick, practical decisions when required.

Most importantly, you should be passionate about delivering an excellent experience for both students and Host Families.
