Job Summary UVA Health, home to an NCI-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center and nationally recognized for excellence in patient care, research, and education, is seeking an experienced and dynamic Nursing Director to lead our Acute Oncology and Stem CellTransplant Inpatient Units. This is a unique opportunity to make a direct impact on the lives of patients and families facing some of the most complex cancer diagnoses while guiding a highly skilled nursing team in one of the nation's top academic medical centers. Position Overview The Nursing Director provides strategic leadership, operational oversight, and clinical excellence for the Acute Oncology and Stem Cell Transplant inpatient services.
This role is responsible for ensuring the delivery of safe, high-quality, and compassionate care; fostering collaboration across interdisciplinary teams; and advancing best practices that align with UVA Health's mission of transforming health and inspiring hope. Key Responsibilities Lead and support nursing teams in the delivery of comprehensive inpatient oncology and transplant care. Oversee patient care services including assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up.
Ensure clinical and operational excellence through staffing, resource management, and performance improvement initiatives. Partner with physicians, advanced practice providers, and other care team members to provide integrated, patient- and family-centered care. Support nursing professional development, mentoring, and succession planning.

Preferred Requirements 5 or more years of progressive leadership experience in Oncology.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing from accredited nursing program, Master's degree in related field within 1 year of hire. Experience: 5 or more years of progressive leadership experience, required. Licensure: Licensed to Practice as a Registered Nurse in the Commonwealth of Virginia.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS This is primarily a sedentary job involving extensive use of desktop computers. The job does occasionally require traveling some distance to attend meetings, and programs. The starting base rate for this role is $111,330.00 annually.
