The Nursing Manager provides leadership, oversight, and strategic direction for the nursing department, ensuring excellence in culture, compliance, clinical care, and operational performance. Leveraging both clinical expertise and operational acumen, the Nursing Manager drives initiatives that enhance patient care, improve efficiency, and ensure full compliance with all healthcare regulations and accreditation standards. This position serves as the primary leader for daily nursing operations and as a collaborative advisor across departments, acting as a critical liaison between nursing and the broader organization. Key Responsibilities Compliance & Regulatory Oversight Lead nursing compliance initiatives to ensure adherence to all federal, state, and accreditation requirements.
Maintain infection control audits, records, and cleanliness standards. Develop, update, and manage the annual Infection Prevention Plan, including audits, staff reminders, and issue escalation. Ensure accurate, organized, and compliant medical record management across all systems (Hatch, LightningStep, Quest, etc.).
Prepare for and support regulatory inspections and audits. Oversee annual compliance "housekeeping," including medical forms, labor postings, and record updates. Partner with department leaders to develop crisis response and communication protocols.
Medication, Equipment & Inventory Management Manage medication ordering, inventory levels, and emergency preparedness. Maintain an up-to-date formulary with physician approvals and staff accessibility. Oversee procurement and tracking of withdrawal stabilization medications.
Ensure strict compliance with DEA regulations for narcotics, including counts, signage, security, and documentation. Conduct regular audits of medication rooms for cleanliness, accuracy, expiration dates, and security. Manage medical equipment ordering, calibration, maintenance, and replacement.
Track and appropriately discard expired or ineffective supplies. Maintain accurate inventory logs and organized purchase records. Leadership, Strategy & Team Development Identify and measure the nursing department's contribution to overall organizational success.
Serve as the primary nursing liaison, aligning clinical goals with operational strategy. Collaborate with leadership to identify and implement process improvements. Lead departmental initiatives related to process improvement, technology adoption, and operational restructuring.
Document and standardize nursing procedures, onboarding, and daily workflows. Directly manage nursing staff through coaching, performance management, and annual reviews. Participate in hiring, onboarding, and training of nursing staff.
Maintain licensure, CPR certifications, TB testing, flu clinics, and Narcan training compliance. Ensure accurate and complete personnel files for all nursing staff. Job Requirements Requirements: Registered Nurse (RN) license Minimum of 2 years of relevant experience Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
