Nurse Manager I Location: Baldwin Hills (Los Angeles, CA) Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM Onsite position Compensation: $110,000–$145,000 annually Role Overview The Nurse Manager I provides both clinical and operational leadership within an ambulatory care setting serving underserved adult populations. This role balances hands-on patient care with staff leadership, clinic operations, and regulatory compliance, ensuring high-quality, patient-centered care and efficient clinic performance. QualificationsRequired Active California RN license Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) 5+ years of RN experience, including: 3+ years in an ambulatory care setting (FQHC experience strongly preferred) 2+ years in a clinical or hospital management role Comfort providing direct patient care Ability to commit to a full-time, Monday–Friday onsite schedule Reliable transportation and comfort commuting to the assigned site Preferred Experience in non-profit, FQHC, or community health settings Hospital, ER, or urgent care experience with true management responsibility HIV care experience Experience with audits, compliance, and quality initiatives Not Accepted Long-term care (LTC), skilled nursing facility (SNF), or rehab-only backgrounds Charge nurse experience without formal management responsibilities Key ResponsibilitiesClinical Oversight & Patient Care Provide clinical support to providers and patients Triage walk-in and urgent patient needs Support primary care services, including chronic disease management, vaccinations, and HIV/STI treatment Deliver and document patient education Delegate clinical tasks to LVNs and support staff appropriately Provide direct patient care approximately 2–3 days per week Staff Leadership & Supervision Supervise RNs, LVNs, Medical Assistants, HIV/STD counselors, and phlebotomists Lead daily morning huddles and support clinic flow Hire, onboard, train, and evaluate staff Approve timecards and time-off requests Address performance issues and implement corrective actions as needed Clinic Operations & Compliance Oversee daily clinic operations and staffing coverage Coordinate referrals and follow-up care Ensure exam rooms, supplies, and emergency equipment are stocked and compliant Maintain compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, HRSA/FQHC, and state/federal regulations Prepare for and participate in audits and site visits Dispensary & Medication Oversight Oversee clinic dispensary and in-house pharmacy operations (as applicable) Ensure proper handling, storage, and documentation of medications Manage controlled substances and 340B medications Resolve discrepancies collaboratively with clinical and pharmacy partners Flexibility & Coverage Adjust hours as needed to meet operational or patient care demands Provide coverage or support at other clinic sites when required What We Offer Mission-driven, patient-centered work environment Highly collaborative, interdisciplinary care teams Progressive, values-based leadership culture Upon conversion: Free health insurance (single coverage) Paid time off, sick time, and paid holidays Retirement plan Annual merit or across-the-board increases Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Los Angeles, CA.
Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $110000.00 - $145000.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment. Benefits are subject to change and may be subject to specific elections, plan, or program terms.
