Job Description
Main Functions A Nurse II provides occupational health services typically at multiple sites or operations, and provides regional or global nursing support through appropriate networks and committees. Title: Occupational Health Nurse Location: Calgary, AB Duration: 2-year contract Schedule: M-F Tasks and Responsibilities Provides and documents services as well as guidance to other health professionals in the provision and documentation of services relating to routine, non‑routine and complex occupational health care of employees and others as determined by local site management within the professional scope and standards of license. Develops local policies and procedures in consultation with local occupational health professionals.
Determines and communicates Fitness for Work and trains others in the provision of this service including case management of injury/illness, routine and non‑routine travel preparation, occupational evaluations, and may provide regional or global support. Performs, analyzes, and evaluates health screening data to identify possible workplace exposures as required by global MOH and applicable local laws and regulations. Makes recommendations to management based on individual and worker group results; also ensures training of others.
Trains external medical service providers to ensure services delivered per company guidelines. Coordinates alcohol and drug use testing services as needed. Actively participates in MOH and SSHE committees, projects and initiatives; may lead at a regional level.
Manages clinic resources effectively and appropriately. Skills and Qualifications Behavioral skills: analytical, effective communication, courage of conviction, risk management. Functional skills: clinical case management, clinical testing, exposure assessment and controls, health education and promotion/counseling, infectious disease control program management, medical and research ethics, medication clearance assessment, occupational evaluations, occupational health laws, regulations, and company standards, occupational health program management, travel health preparation and assessment, emergency preparedness and response.
Licensed in the location of operations supported. Degree(s) in Nursing (advanced or standard) or equivalent (e.g., Physician Assistant). Detailed knowledge of occupational medicine, emergency medical response, toxicology, and legal issues relevant to occupational health care. #J-18808-Ljbffr
