Nurse Educator Responsibilities
- Provide specialized clinical expertise and skill, acting as a support person and role model for the nursing staff.
- Serves as a clinical resource to staff in the application of relevant research findings to practice.
- Assess clinical skills and learning needs of the nursing staff.
- Collaborate with leadership and nursing preceptors in evaluating and promoting development amongst the nursing staff.
- Participate in the development of policies, procedures, and standards of patient care relevant to clinical practice.
- Manage education of staff, including employees' orientation to the unit, standards of care, and competencies.
- Design, plan, and implement a criteria-based staff development program to meet the clinical needs of all nursing care team members.
- Assess, plan, implement, and evaluate the overall orientation and continuing education programs for the Nursing department.
- Take an active role in the planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of continuing education and patient education programs, and other educational projects as requested.
- Actively participate in unit departmental and interdisciplinary programs, meetings and conferences to assist with changing trends in the delivery of patient care.
- Engage in unit specific performance improvement initiatives and assist in addressing knowledge deficits identified through unit-based monitoring.
- Participate in the orientation and onboarding of new staff, providing education, guidance, and support to promote safe clinical practice, competency development, and adherence to departmental and organizational standards.
- Demonstrates familiarity with current Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN) and American Society of PeriAnesthesia Nurses (ASPAN) guidelines and integrates evidence-based standards into operating room and recovery room education, clinical practice, and staff competency development.
Qualifications
- Passion for Nursing Education.
- 5+ Years of RN acute care nursing experience.
- Leadership or Nursing Education experience preferred.
- Education: Graduate of an accredited school of nursing required.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree required.
- Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree required.
- Licensure: New York Registered Nurse (RN) License & Registration.
- Certification: Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- Preferred Certifications: BCLS Instructor certification; Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification; CNOR Certification.
Salary Range
USD $130,000.00 - USD $155,000.00 /Yr.
