Humboldt Park Health seeks an Experienced Nurse Director for their Emergency & ICU Departments. The Director of the Emergency & ICU Departments is responsible for the management of nursing practice and operations on a designated unit/service. This includes, but is not limited to, the management of the clinical nursing practice, the financial performance of the unit, staff recruitment, retention, labor relations, staffing, employee performance evaluation, quality improvement, staff education, medical records, internal and external regulatory and survey requirements.
The Nursing Director collaborates with multiple professionals to support and coordinate the provision/management of patient care.
The Experienced Nurse Director of Emergency & ICU Departments will:
- Establishes standards of nursing for the unit, applying evidence-based standards and health care research.
- Plans, organizes, and directs health services for an assigned unit and insures that goals, objectives and work performed are consistent with standards and that quality care is provided to patients and families. Communicates with all staff members and provides feedback on a regular basis.
- Selects, mentors, motivates and directs development and evaluation of staff. Establishes and tracks quality improvement indicators and other information concerning services and care to insure that resources are available to provide quality services and on-time performance consistent with standards.
- Participates, consults and collaborates in the development of long range plans for unit. Interprets and communicates departmental policies and procedures. Establishes areas of responsibility and assignment. Develops or implements policies and procedures to insure efficient and effective delivery of health services.
- Receives, analyzes, and evaluates reports and other information and coordinates quality improvement activities concerning the care of patients, equipment, environmental health and safety conditions, and other related services in improving the quality and utilization of health care.
- Develops budget estimates and other information concerning financial requirements. Approves or monitors expenditures, purchases and other actions to insure compliance with budget guidelines and effective delivery of services.
- Coordinates and develops on-going activities to monitor nursing compliance with standards and regulatory requirements.
- Works collaboratively with other members of the interdisciplinary care team to provide holistic care.
Other Responsibilities:
- Adheres to downtime procedures.
- Adheres to established departmental policies, procedures, and objectives.
- Performs both essential and non-essential job functions in a safe manner as identified by Humboldt Park Health.
- Demonstrates an understanding of and models the mission and core values of Humboldt Park Health.
- Enhances professional growth and development by accessing educational programs, job related literature, in-service meetings, and workshops/seminars.
- Checks hospital email daily.
- Performs other related duties as assigned
